REWE is a chain of supermarkets in Germany. In late 2003 miniMAL opened their first Munich store in the Fünf Höfe. Since then the branches of "HL Markt" throughout Munich have one-by-one been turned into miniMALs. In 2006 all the miniMALs then got re-branded as REWE.
REWE is considered one of the better supermarkets. Unlike most German supermarkets (Plus, Penny-Markt, Edeka, Lidl, etc...) they actually take care with their interior design. The floors are kept clean and free of cardboard box clutter. The fruit is reasonably fresh. And the variety of goods fairly wide.
