There are many great European cities within reach for a weekend trip from Munich. The best travel options are to fly or take the night train. The website for Deutsche Bahn (bahn.de) gives times for international trains but, somewhat frustratingly, it doesn't give prices. The night trains are all listed under the nachtzugreisen.de website, but again they don't give prices. For flights see also: Cheap flights from Munich

Berlin

The night train is a good option for Berlin. Leave Munich around 11pm on Friday, arrive about 8am on the Saturday. Then leave again 11pm Sunday, arriving back in Munich 8am Monday. The Deutsche Bahn night trains are more comfortable than, say, the trains to Prague. You can usually get a good nights sleep and arrive feeling refreshed. No showers though. Prices?

Paris

There doesn't seem to be a night train which goes direct Munich to Paris.

Amsterdam

Take the night train to Amsterdam from Munich. The journey time is 11 hours. A train leaves Munich Hauptbahnhof at 22:40 hrs, arrives Amsterdam at 09:41. The accommodation options are: reclining chair, couchette (6 bunk beds in a cabin), and private cabins. A one-way ticket in a couchette costs €99. Tickets can be booked with citynightline.ch

Rome

London

A journey which includes the channel tunnel.
