U4

The U4 is a line on the U-Bahn, Munich's underground rail network. It was opened in 1988. With only 4 "own" stations that are not served by another U-Bahn line, it can be considered Munich's least used and least important U-Bahn line.

The U4 runs west to east, from Westendstraße to Arabellapark. Starting around 8pm, the U4 operates as a shuttle only between Lehel and Arabellapark. For connections to/from the inner city, you have to change at Lehel to/from U5.

The U4 line is coloured cyan on the network map.

The stations are: Westendstraße, Heimeranplatz, Schwanthalerhöhe, Theresienwiese, Hauptbahnhof, Karlsplatz (Stachus), Odeonsplatz, Lehel, Max-Weber-Platz, Prinzregentenplatz, Böhmerwaldplatz, Richard-Strauß-Straße, Arabellapark.

An extension eastwards from Arabellapark to the Englschalking station of S8 has been planned but been put aside for the time being.
