Toytown and Britboard
The Toytown website was first created in the year 2002. At that time it was a Munich-specific website called "Toytown Munich".A year later, in 2003, a similar website was created under the domain name britboard.de. This latter website was for English-speakers throughout Germany. Britboard arose out of another online community called Auf Wiedersehen Net.
In April 2006 it was decided to combine the two websites into one. This had the advantage of pooling resources such that both websites could develop to provided a bigger and better service.
The combination of "Toytown Munich" and "Britboard" is what gave rise to the new "Toytown Germany".
