Salsa dancing

The salsa scene in Munich is surprisingly large and diverse, especially for a city that is not very visibly diverse! I've only been a few times, but I'll recommend El Palacio 2 at Kultfabrik. Lessons are at 8pm on weekends, but most folks get started from 11pm with it still hopping at 4am (Latin culture you know....). I never went to the first El Palacio, but this new place is supposed to be much nicer and feel more permanent. You'll find professionals and beginners alike on the floor, and people are very friendly about dancing with strangers. But to begin with I still think it best to go with a group of people and preferably a partner. This is different from the jive lessons where everyone rotates during the lessons - at Palacio you will learn with a set partner, so it's best to BYOB (bring your own boy)! Once people get started, it's easier to mix. All latin-brazil music and salsa events are listed at salsa-munich.de. Click "Veranstaltungen" for places to dance any given day.

Note that the Munich Jivers and the Boogie Bears Swing Dancers also do 'al fresco' Salsa dancing on Thursday evenings. This at the open air Diana Temple, Hofgarten adjacent to Odeonsplatz (always weather permitting).

I was looking for a salsa dance school lately. Now i found the school salsa-y-corazon. Its pretty cool, teachers are nice, and there is also a nice crowd of people.
