Munich Re

Munich Re is the worlds largest reinsurance company.

They are also known as "Munich Reinsurance", or in German: "Münchner Rück".

Munich Re were founded in 1880 and have their headquarters on Leopoldstraße in Schwabing. Outside the offices is the famous Walking Man Statue.

Reinsurance is the means by which insurance companies insure themselves. This is how they protect themselves against sudden and unexpectedly large claims being made.

A large number of Munich's English speaking residents are employed at Munich Re.
