This is one of the highlights on the Munich cultural calendar. Saturday 15th May 2004 is Die Lange Nacht der Musik when Munich hosts 400 concerts in one night. From 8pm til 3am you can hear anything from electronica to belly dancing. There is something for almost every taste. A ticket costs €15 and gives you access to all the concerts, including bus transport between locations. The center of the night is Odeonsplatz. All 4 bus routes start and finish here. Here's a list of the concerts. The most popular events will likely be Fidelio in the Staatsoper, West Side Story in the Deutsches Theater (tickets for free for the first 100 to arrive). Incidently, this is the same date and the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 which is happening in Istanbul. Then on Saturday 16th October there is a similar event for Museums and art galleries: Die Lange Nacht der Münchener Museen. From 7pm til 2am about 80 museums and galleries open their doors. Again, one €15 tickets grants access to all, including transport.
