How to delete a post

It is not really possible to delete a post from the chat forum. Members can, however, click the "edit" button on their own posts and remove all the text. If the text is replaced with just three dots, like this: "...", then the post will be automatically deleted entirely within about an hour. Note that the edit button is only available for up to 20 minutes after the post was first made, or for up to three hours for members with a supporters subscription. The edit button looks like this:

Alternatively, or if the edit time window has expired, members can use the report function to request a post be removed by the moderation team. Such requests are only granted if there is a compelling reason for the removal. The report button looks like this:

Note that classified adverts can be closed by clicking the "Close ad" button to the top right of all advert pages. Closed ads are automatically removed from the system about 24 hours after closure. The close button looks like this:

Do not attempt to remove a post by editing the content to read something like, "Mods, please delete this post". This approach is likely to be ineffective. The reason being, the moderators do not read every post. They might happen to chance upon your request, but that is far from guaranteed.
