Herrsching

Herrsching am Ammersee is a popular resort on the eastern shore of the Ammersee lake, approximately 35km south-west of Munich. It is the southern terminus of the S5 S-Bahn line, a 50-minute journey from Hauptbahnhof. Population: 10,000.

The town is a popular destination in summer for swimmers, sailers and sunbathers. It boasts Germany's longest promenade, a 10-km stretch heading westwards from the town. It is also the starting point for the walking paths to the Benedictine monastery of Andechs.
