Glockenbachviertel
The Glockenbachviertel, usually abbreviated as GBV, is a city district to the immediate south west of the Munich city center. It is adjacent to the Viktualienmarkt.The name Glockenbachviertel is sometimes taken to be synonymous with Isarvorstadt but in actual fact it is more likely to be a sub-area of Isarvorstadt.
The center of the Glockenbachviertel is Gärtnerplatz.
Access this district via the U-Bahn lines U1 or U2 to Fraunhoferstraße.
One of the principle streets in this district is the Klenzestraße. Every year this street has a summer festival - Sommerfest. It is usually held at the end of May.
The Glockenbachviertel is a popular gay area. Many gay friendly bars and restaurants are located here.
