The English-speaking clubs in Munich are many and varied. Some revolve purely around drinking, others are sports oriented, others are minority interest groups. Below are the ones we know about. If you know of another, feel free to add it to the list!

Incidently, if you were looking for nightclubs instead, see: Munich Nightclubs

  • Toytown Munich - this is the name of the website you are reading right now. Toytown Munich is not actually a club, although lots of people think it is. Instead, TT is a website which enables people to locate and make contact each other and with other clubs. Having said that, TT does have a number of sub-groups within its community of readers. Some of these are are: Curry Night, Tuesday Drinks, Ultimate Frisbee, Touch Rugby, Stitch and Bitch, Jewelry Making, and more. Check the Events and Meetups section on the forum for more. Also take a look at the Interests Matrix.
  • Hash House Harriers - a group for those interested in long-distance running. In addition to the running there is also considerable emphasis on socialising and having fun. There is as much silliness and drinking as there is running, perhaps even more.
  • International Ski Club - ski and snowboarding trips every weekend during the winter. Some day trips, some weekend trips, and a couple of week-long holidays as well. The club meets for drinks every Tuesday during the Winter at a bar in Schwabing (which one currently?). Every year during the height of the Summer, usually August, there is a barbeque party.
  • Americans in Munich - the US citizens in the city have various groups including those interested in politics as well as those simply interested in drinking and visiting Tex-Mex restaurants.
  • German English Association - also known as the GEA for short. A social club. Drinks nights once a week, plus various other activities including Sunday walks, beer garden sessions, ski trips, restaurant meals, and more.
  • Toastmasters - for those who enjoy or want to improve their public speaking skills.
    • Munich has more than 10 [1] clubs, among them English speaking, French, Italian, German and either German / English clubs.
    • The Munich Prostmasters meet 6 30 pm first and third Wednesdays at Oskar-von-Miller-Ring 33. Guests are welcome.
  • Harmunichs - a womens singing group. Mostly American but by no means exclusively so.
  • The Caledonians - for all those from Scotland or interested in Scottish culture.
  • German-American Men's Club Stammtisch - this group shouldn't really be added here but I am doing so anyway because of a curious story. When I first moved to Munich about 3 or 4 years ago I saw this group's advertisement in Munich Found. So I phoned them up asking when the next evening was and if I could come along. I was told by some old guy who sounded very much like an ex-army Colonel that, "oh no, this is a private group" and I was promptly turned away. So if it's private, why on earth is it being advertised to the public?
  • Munich Wanderers - for those who enjoy hiking, climbing, and long mountain walks.
  • Friday Beergarden - not actually a club. An independant email list open to anyone who fancies a chat in a beergarden to be named each Friday. Look out for posts on 'Events and Meetups' or get on the list by sending a blank email to: fridaybeergarden-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
