With this site you can find out who makes the foods that you find in the discount supermarkets:

Why would you want to do that? Because a lot of the products in Penny, etc, actually come from well known companies that produce "Markenartikel" and the quality of the products is exactly the same only at a cheaper price.
The site doesn't give any info about which non-branded products are the same as the branded ones though. I guess you have to do that bit yourself. But that's not going to be a problem if you're already anally retentive about saving a few cents on the price of a packet of salami.
