C&A is an international chain of clothing stores, with branches found throughout Germany. It was founded in the Netherlands in 1841 by the brothers Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer. It now has its headquarters in Brussels and Düsseldorf.

Germany is the core market of C&A, with over 380 branches. It is known for selling reasonable-quality clothing at reasonable prices.

In 2001, C&A withdrew from the British market. Its strategy of selling low-priced clothing from high-rent city centre locations made it vulnerable to out-of-town stores like ASDA and Matalan. In Germany, it has been moving steadily upmarket, in order to shed its low-budget image.
