BeMe Theatre is a Munich-based professional English-language theatre company. We concentrate on producing theatre which is cutting-edge and cross-cultural, outward- and forward-looking. We use international texts, guest artists, design and developmental processes which cross borders both culturally and artistically. BeMe Theatre endeavours to create a permanent theatre in Munich which debuts important international contemporary work new to our audience and explores provocative ideas through the telling of stories; stories which spotlight humanity, politics, and history- the ingredients, affecting human life right in this moment; the elements, shaping and molding our modern society.
BeMe Theatre was founded in Barcelona in 2005 by Elisa Moolecherry. In 2006, she brought the solo-performance I, Claudia to the stage which was remounted in November 2006 at the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre in China and in 2007 at the Amerika Haus and the TamS Theater in Munich with great success. In 2008 BeMe Theatre will stage the award-winning play Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) at the Amerika Haus from May 7th to the 10th followed by My Mother's Feet by Gina Wilkinson (the director of Goodnight Desdemona) in the fall at the Pasinger Fabrik.
Elisa Moolecherry is an honours graduate of the Specialisation in Theatre Performance Programme at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. After completing her studies she returned to her hometown Toronto where she acted professionally for over 13 years in film and on stage in both Canadian and international productions. She has been a regular on such television series as The Newsroom and Degrassi and, on stage, has played such roles as Viola in Twelfth Night, Juliet in Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet, Fatima in Arabian Night (Winner of the People's Choice Award Summerworks) and originated the role of Stacy in the Chalmer's Award-winning play Pop Song. Elisa Moolecherry co-founded BeMe Theatre in Barcelona in 2005, starring as Ernestine in the company‘s first production, The Anger in Ernest & Ernestine and later as the solo performer in I, Claudia which, after its premiere at the Teatro de la Riereta in Spain, had 3 highly successful remounts: in November 2006 at the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre in China, and produced by Jean-Luc Julien in Munich in May 2007 at the Amerika Haus and again in the fall of 2007 at the TamS Theater where the performances repeatedly sold out. Last winter, Elisa Moolecherry was seen in cinemas across Germany in the feature film, One Way, acting opposite Til Schweiger and appeared alongside him again in the hit German comedy series Pastewka last fall.
