Zest - Adalbertstrasse 23, 80799 Munich, Germany

Adalbertstrasse 23, Tel. 089 28 00 666

Zest is so insider you probably won't see it in other guides. Every time I've been here I've seen weird looking people worthy of conversation, probably literary or film or advertising types and the food has been exceptional. If you spot a tourist you get a prize.

The entrance to the place is quite big, but it's not at all well sign-posted, so you can walk past it and miss it, which is surprising because from the outside it does look cool and interesting, with lots of bright art on the walls. It's almost like you walk past it before you realise there was something there and by that time you are at the Vorstadt Café anyway.

I once dined here with the German equivalent of minor royalty and they assure me this place is "inside". So there you go. The bar looks like a handy place to make new acquaintances who are connected into the film industry (Munich has a huge film industry, most of it located in Schwabing, the centre point being the Arri HQ and cinema in Türkenstrasse), so if you are an aspiring starlet this may be a good place at which to hang out your assets and talents for appraisal by visiting professionals.
