Wok Man - Munich

OK, last night I really did not want to cook, and did not want to eat out. As we all know, supermarkets here do not cater for those people that do not want to cook everything from scratch, so I thought I would go for a chinese takeaway. Was passing through Schwabing on the way home, and got some 'food' from Wok Man on Leopoldstrasse. I do not know where to begin. No wait, yes I do. It was absolutely f*cking sh*t. Excuse my French, but it was. NEVER in my life have I tasted such utter crap claiming to be fit for human consumption. I know that Chinese restaurants tend to cater to the local taste buds, so I was not expecting much. I was not expecting anything better than average really. It was never going to be particularly authentic, but I at least assumed it would be edible. I just got some simple noodles, a chicken dish, a beef dish, some vegetables and the obligatory bag of prawn crackers. Not one part of the meal was edible. Not even the bloody crackers!!! Everything tasted exactly the same - of sh*tty old overused cooking oil. I honestly could not even manage more that a mouthful of each dish. The meat used was appaling. Now, Chinese takeaways back in England are not exactly famed for using prime cuts of meatz, but they at least disguise it well. How on earth somebody can make such a pigs ear of simple stir fried vegetables is totally beyond me. Avoid at all costs. Sh*ttiest food in Munich (and I even eat Bifi snacks from the garage). Oh, and if anyone knows a member of staff there, please pass on their address to me so I can go round and break their f*cking teeth.

I agree with Don - the food is sh*t. I went there about a year ago and ate from the buffet. Everything tasted bad. From memory, I also went pretty early, so the food can't have been sitting there for too long.

I agree. I went there the other day after Murphy's. It was overpriced and tasted rank. Oh well!

Boaaaaah, you were totally right! I was curious whether Wok-Man really is so messed up or not. AND IT IS!!! It was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Complete Bullsh#t. (sorry for that)

I wouldn't say that Wokman is the worst in Munich. I've tried HONG KONG, a fast food chinese restaurant within OEZ, and that is what I consider a disgrace to all Chinese people. Sadly, being a Singaporean (home to wonderful food) I am quite fussy about what I eat. In Munich there's only one restaurant which is nice called JADE at the Holfangerstr. close to PEP which serves authentic Hong Kong Chinese Dim Sum and other nice a la carte dishes. Price is higher compared to other restaurants.

I ate there once as well. The food was so salty I think I drank about 2 litres of water after just to rehydrate. Not good after 10 pints in Murphy's. We are talking MAJOR hangover material.

Hee hee! Even google seems to think their meat is dodgy. I just did an internet search for Wok Man. The 4th result is a page titled Wok the Dog. What's wrong with eating man's best friend?.

Worst food I have had in Munich. Eat anywhere but here. They are also very unfriendly and rip you off with their outrageous prices!!

The only thing I can call this food is greasy and overpriced. I would suggest avoiding this place.

Okay, after having the worst meal in years at Wok Man just an hour ago I went to Google to see what I'd find. Surely enough I found this page. Man, it is so bad. No, it is so f*****g terrible. It is really amazing that a place like this seems to survive just fine just because of the location. There seem to be addresses on this planet where you can make a living no matter how bad the stuff is you sell. And I know that neither this post nor anything else will make a difference. Victims of Wok Man are doomed, they won't google for it before they sit down. It is so sad.

WokMan sure sucks bigtime. Sorry. Even lousier than "der kleine Chinese" near Marienplatz in Talstr. And that is quite an achievement.

The worst place to go! DO NOT GO THERE! The meat is disgusting and I really don't want to know which kind of meat it is! And the waiters are rude! So people, there are plenty of other places to go to have a nice meal in Munich, walk a bit more but don't even think about putting a foot in this lousy restaurant!

in agreement with what the others have written, went there last year for lunch it was awful! and not cheap either! the food tasted as though it had been fried in old cooking oil...all the dishes we ordered tasted the same. I am never going back there EVER! I can't understand how the place is still in business, and how it manages to pay its high Leopoldstr. rent.

I went in the weekend, Had two different dishes with rice, one a chicken dish, the other a beef dish. Oddly enough I couldn't taste a difference between them and there was an over riding flavour of jellymeat. My rating: AVOID
