Wirtshaus zur Brez'n - Leopoldstr. 72, 80802 Munich, Germany
One of the most famous, and also most popular, Bavarian food and beer places in Schwabing. Directly on Leopoldstrasse, half way between the U-Bahn stops Münchner Freiheit and Giselastraße. As with all such places in Munich, they have cute waiters dressed in traditional Lederhosen (or waitresses if you prefer).

Good winter substitute for beer garden. Gets very crowded though!
Posted by: jordigo at 9:52 pm on 26.Oct.2003We read mixed reports on this place (esp. Groovy Munich) but went along last Friday night. Weather was mixed so we got a table just inside. Service was so good we ended up staying all night and got rather plastered. Chose to have something to eat once the beers were flowing which was excellent - a mixed meat, cheese, bread platter. Seems to have a bit of a gay scene which may not be everyones cup of tea. Overall, one visit but you take as you find. Dekaboot
Posted by: "dekaboot" at 9:39 pm on 18.Aug.2004I like it and not just because it´s the first restaurant i visited in Munich. Again all the expectations, it´s authentic; the food consists in good bavarian standards. The service is rather under stress, but nevertheless friendly. The crowd is (as usual) typical Schwabing, but not unpleasant as in other places here around.

Posted by: "iloveschnitzel" at 2:54 pm on 3.May.2005well this place is absolutely recommendable! good food, great people, interesting architecture, and good service. (i used to work there for 2 years, so trust me.. :-)
Posted by: "jana" at 7:28 am on 1.Dec.2005^^Jana is still working there! Well it's one of the many bavarian restaurants, all in all, not the best not the worst. But it sems the hole service crew changed, can't say much about the new crew, the service till 2007 was excellent!
Posted by: "Gastrolord" at 4:57 am on 13.Sep.2007We took our visitors there last week, and we were not disappointed. The service was prompt and pleasant (the male waiter didn't have his lederhosen on, though, shame). The food was also pretty good, and we were all happy with what we ordered. The German member of our group confirmed that the food was good Bavarian fare.
