Vinaiolo - Steinstr. 42, 81675 Munich, Germany

One of the very best, if not THE best Italian restaurants in Munich. Service is very very friendly. Food is top notch. Good wine selection too. Of course it's a little more expensive than your average pizzeria, the main courses cost between 14 and 22 Euros. They're pretty small dishes too, so if you're hungry you'll need a "Zwischengericht" which will be another 9 to 14 Euros.

The restaurant used to have a Michelin star (lost it 2004). It's not snobby though. They'll warmly welcome anyone. If you've not been, you must. You can't go wrong. Just remember to reserve in advance. On popular nights (Thursday through Saturday) you'll probably need to reserve 3 or 4 days in advance.

Went here for dinner and it was fab. The food was gorgeous and the service was excellant. It was pricey enough with a meal for two (three courses) and a bottle of wine coming to €150 but was well worth it..........

I have to say this was the most awful Italian food I ever had... the service was unfriendly the food without flavour and then here is where you all have to watch out they over charged on the bill, thank god we checked carefully. We have since heard that a number of other friends who have been there were also over charged on the bill... it seems people now a day don't really check what they are actually paying for and this then allows the owners to add extra knowing that you will not notice. Be careful!!!!!

I don't know who 'anonymous' is but, having been to Vinaiolo on a number of occasions, I'd like to know what his/her expectations of Italian food are. Perhaps it's alphabet spaghetti from a tin? Or could it be that you were in a different restaurant? This isn't the place for someone looking for 'cheap and cheerful' Italian with huge helpings of spaghetti with lashings of bolognese sauce, or deep pan pizza the size of dustbin lids. It is however an excellent restaurant and the waiters have never been anything but attentive and courteous. As for the food, it's first class. We've never been disappointed and I'm just about to make a reservation for my wife's birthday tomorrow night.

I went there last night with two French work colleagues and we had a great time. The service was terrific (they spoke English) the food was great and the wine was even better! I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a nice place to eat (a bit pricey depending on wine, but worth it).

As we live very close to this restaurant, we thought we'd give it a go, Vinaiolo had been given mixed reviews here, so we thought it best to make our own mind up. On certain nights there is a set menu, which can be a little intimidating, but i have to say, the food from it was spectacular, and for the quality very well priced. I lost count of how many courses there were. Don't come here if your expecting a pizza, or a simple pasta dish. The service - friendly. Yes, it can be a little pricey once the wine is added on. But we all came away wowed.

We went at the beginning of the week, and the food was very good, the service friendly, wine recommendation was excellent and we had a very enjoyable evening. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for and as such quite good value if you like fine dining. Anonymous above did not go to this restaurant, or it was very different two years ago. Highly recommended.
