Vegelangelo - Munich

Vegelangelo - Thomas-Wimmer-Ring 16, 80799 Munich, Germany

Small ovo-lacto vegetarian restaurant now on the Altstadtring. The prices are acceptable, the food quality fluctuates between acceptable and a great sensational experience, just depending on the type of food you order. Afaik the menu changes monthly. Open Tue-Fri for lunch (12am-2.30pm) and dinner (6-12pm), Sat 12am-12pm. Already completely non-smoking, before the ban. Vegan dishes are available on request. As the restaurant offers approx. 15 seats only it is a good idea to reserve in advance.

Hi, I'm the owner of the vegelangelo restaurant and I want to place some news and corrections: Opening hours are now: Tue-Fri 6-12pm Wed-Fri 12am-2:30pm Sat 12am-12pm Sun 6-12pm. We have a new table, now there are 21 seats inside and 12 outside! the menue changes weekly and always did. Non smoking day is only the first Wednesday in the month, when the "Vegetarierbund Stammtisch" meets.

Once a month? Forget it. I will. We went once for dessert and found it nice enough but overpriced. Decor is nice, location convenient.

We went last night for a 4-course special Valentines dinner. Great presentation and details, very romantic and nice service. We are meat lovers but since the interior is so romantic we decided to go for vegetarian. It took a while for the food to come but I guess for this venue it was okay since they were serving 20 people. My boyfriend wished for larger servings but they were fine for me. Great coffee and desert afterwars.

Well sometimes I'm just amazed how people evaluate food. Here is my summary based on my lunch TODAY: I ate my best vegetarian meal in any vegetarian restaurant today. Vegelangelo is an elegant but affordable vegetarian eatery in the center of Munich. It's the passion of a very charming and knowledgeable lady. The interior design is spectacular. Tasty, sumptuous vegetarian and vegan food from organically grown vegetables. Also offer lunch specials. The menu changes weekly. It's a very small restaurant, there are just about 20 seats. Call for dinner reservations. Closed on Sundays. The website also contains some information in English. BTW: Vegelangelo moved from Schwabing to the new location near Isartor at the end of 2007. So nobody cares any more about smoking or non-smoking issues.

I agree with last post. I went there on Friday with my girlfriend: small, family run place, nice atmosphere, great food. I am not vegetarian but everyone values food made with fresh ingredients and well prepared. The lady was nice and she explained us the menu a little in spanish and a little in english and gave some suggestions. Wonderful soups and cakes. We paid around 28 euros for appetizer/entree/dessert/drinks, so it was quite ok.And yes, if you are in a hurry don't go there, service is quite slow, but it is because they make most of the things when you order and honestly I value that.

Redefining my perception on vegetarian food. Vegelangelo doesn't serve steamed, unsavory vegetables. The two main courses we ordered took a while, but were delicious. If you are in a rush, this is not the place to visit. Our meals were prepared from scratch. BTW: Reserve a table, a small restaurant. We'll be returning soon.

We ate three times at Vegelangelo during our recent trip to Munich, once for lunch (we ate outside) and twice for dinner. These were probably the best vegetarian meals we have ever eaten (and we are from New York City, where we have eaten at many vegetarian restaurants). The owner/chef Iris is wonderful and will talk with you if she has time (she speaks excellent English). Her vegetarian versions of traditional Bavarian/Austrian dishes are amazing, especially the sauerkraut and cheese dumplings. My wife said it was the best sauerkraut dish she has ever eaten (and she is from Poland, so she knows from cabbage). The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, very restful and tranquil. Even the restrooms were like tiny art galleries, with free lotions and colognes. Vegelangelo is on the southside of the Thomas Wimmer Ring, just across from the Altstadt and near the Viktualienmarkt. You have to go there.

I went there with the ball and chain recently. Food was very pricey, but tasty and well presented. No tap water served.

By far my favorite veggie restaurant in Munich. Iris' cooking is inspired. Ambiance is excellent. As said above, do not go for dinner if you're in a rush. But go.
