Tijuana - Munich

Tijuana - Leopoldstr. 13, 80802 Munich, Germany

Probably the best Terrasse on Leopoldstrasse in the summer. Very popular, always full, so you need to book if you want to sit down. Unfortunately, the worst service also because the place is always too crowded. Advice: arrive during happy hour (18:00-20:00) and sit at the bar or a small table inside and meet people.

Don't over-dress - it is always really, really hot in this bar and I've seen people fainting. The food is just about alright, but nothing spectacular. Very good cocktails though and friendly bar staff.

It's a great place to bump into people simply because it's quite central and well-known; recently I met four friends I hadn't seen for a while in different parts of the bar in one night.

Incidently, Tijuana is owned by the same people who own Joe Peñas and Juleps.

You thought that Sausalitos on Turkenstrasse was bad for service. Wait till you get here - you even have to fight for a waiter. Also 2x louder than in Sausalitos. Be prepared to queue even during the week. Food more expensive but a little better than Sausalitos.

Sunday evening all you can eat deal is great value but the service is positively abysmal!!

it´s maybe worthy to flirt around if is summer time ... but then be fair with yourself and reserve a table at the terrace, in advance. never ever dare to try the Mai-Tai here ... no further comments the worst = sometimes the service can be unbearable if they have a bad busy day 5 out of 10 - my score cheers / l.g.

About 10 of us ate here last night and I found the place to be OK - the food is better than in Sausalitos, and also a bit pricier - the cocktails in particular are expensive (22€ for pitcher?!? - daylight robbery IMHO). They also only serve beer in poncey little 0.4l glasses. Nevertheless it was a good craic and I will probably be going back - it's a good venue for groups and is handy for a lot of the other bars in Schwabing. 7.5 out of 10.

Find that it is a little noisy, but great food, and the portions are generally quite large. Is a little expensive compared to others, but think the portions even it out. If wanting only something general, recommend just having a starter. Ideally located as in the heart of Schwabing.

Take 8 or so hot dudes, eat some delicious cheese nachos and suck down a few golden margherita's and you have a great start to your night. For €7,50 had hoped the margherita would be a tad bit bigger, but what do you expect from Munich? Can't comment on the other food stuffs though. They have a terrace which presumably is open in the summer months.

the terrace is nice, the cocktail professionally mixed, the waiters uninterested to unfriendly, food just average, the clientele seem to think they´re chic, but they aren´t. A typical Schwabing experience, all in all something you can do without; but you can maybe try the bar downstairs (the "Green Room"), same clientele, but better coocktails and atmosphere.

I am at loss, and a bit hazy, perhaps due to the extended bouts of nausea I and the boyfie have been feeling for a while now...This is by far one of the worst meals I have had in a long time - nasty, nasty, nasty....I have never had particularly good Mexican here, it is Germany and I tried to be understanidng. Jose Penas has been the last resort, and with their happy hour, and surprisingly tasty fresh guacamole, it seemd alright...WHY did we tried to go for an adventure??! Tijuana's food is just gross, and coming from many years in California, I think I know a bit of what I'm talking about. The "guacamole" which they make fresh usually, they ran out of (it was 6pm, right after opening)??! So we got the "side" version instead...something looking and tasting like a regurgetated mess of green onions/tomats/and weird avacado juice....the fajita buffet was not any better, cold tortillas served in dirty stained dishes and something resembling black bean water.....nasty. Oh yeah, the margarita...well, thank god it was happy hour...

I didnt find the food at Tijuanas so bad, considering the lack of authentic ingredients around the area (and Im mexican). Just the night before going there, I tried to cook something authentic and it didnt quite work, so I cant blame them that much. But I wouldnt say its bad, you just have to go there thinking that youre getting ger-mexican food, not quite mexican. Actually the day I went the service was quite well, and I really liked the margaritas, although I found them a bit pricey.

Found Tijuana's great all the times we have eaten there over the past year (about 5 times) - we go there for the burgers so can't comment on their other food. Their cocktails are great. Didn't find it pricey at all. Service was good.

Have to agree with Reen. The burgers are amazing and the service very friendly & good. A bit noisey & smokey but always an enjoyable evening.

Rate it 2 of 5. The only things I like about this place are the address and descent classic margaritas. The food and service were terrible. I might still return to check out the burgers as my table tried chicken enchiladas and chimichanga. The guacamole could have been great but lacked cilantro and any amount fresh chillies. Isn't the idea of table side guac so you can tailor it to your tastes??

I was here last night and was really impressed....first of all, they have ACTUAL tortilla chips which, believe me, are not common at most restuarants in Germany (most serve something kind of like Dorito's). Nice atmosphere, great service, and their guacomole is huge and amazing (they make it right in front of you). A bit expensive for Mexican, but I'll go back!

Way out of my budget, but we had great service...and friendly. The food was good, but small portions (there were 5 of us, each had something different, and all had small portions). I would go back, but only if someone else wanted to go there as it's definitely more $ than it's worth.

A group of ten of us went here on Friday night. We certainly won't be going back in a hurry. The service was absolutely shit. We had to physically stand up and go to the waitress each time to ask her to come and take our orders. It wasn't even as though she had to write anything down as she had a little hand held computer thing that she just typed the orders in. She was huffy and unfriendly. The food was average, certainly nothing special. The Happy Hour cocktails were really weak. They played 'Poker Face' about five times over the course of the evening too which was annoying as hell. Unanimous thumbs-down from all of us.
