Talamonti is right next to Erste Liga, down the side street from Tal and across from Sausalito's. It has two sections - a restaurant and a bistro. I highly recommend the Bistro if you are up for a dinner for two with some atmosphere. The owner often greets customers in the bistro with simple questions, "You like pasta? You like meat? You like salad with portabella?" The night I went we just ordered a three course meal, and the owner served up three delightful surprises, each excellent. Each course is small and full of taste. Rumor has it that the owner used to be an Italian film star, and pictures on the bistro wall echo those times past. Look carefully, the various characters do bear a resemblance. I recommend you give it a try when you are feeling up to a fun, unpredictable evening. The food and wine will be good, even if you don't know exactly what it is... note: prices are above average but not outrageous.

Posted by: "Dave" at 1:59 pm on 30.Oct.2003One of my top Italian restaurants in Munich. Small, but fancy place with excellent service and even better food. Price is average. Make a reservation.
Posted by: Malinee at 5:41 pm on 18.Jun.2004Really good and tasty food, best italian I tried till now. I really enjoyed it, but... small portions and high price, but all in all, recomended and worthed.
Posted by: "Lola" at 11:32 pm on 5.Dec.2004I loved this restaurant before. But last 2 times I went I experienced some kinky stuff. First, the waiter (owner I guess) was so kind-of "high_nose_I_know_everything_you_just_sit_and_relax". He didn't even let us have the menu book but asked us quickly what do we want. "Andiamo senjora, prego, prego...". Crap. We took 3 past and...taaadammm...the food was normal barilla pasta with not so tasty sauces. Overpriced 5 times!!! That happened not once (I thought it was something wrong with me that day) but twice in one month. So, conclusion - no thanks. For 30 euros per person I will go somewhere else.
Posted by: "Boro" at 10:31 am on 19.Aug.2005Italian film star? No, Rinaldo Talamonti used to play the foolish italian man in Germany's sex movies in the 70s, like "Graf Porno", "Schuilmädchenreport" and others. Here his filmography: http://german.imdb.com/name/nm0847794/
Posted by: "Barbarella" at 2:38 pm on 20.Aug.2005Sorry Boro and Barbarella, I´m several times a year in Munich at Buon Gusto Talamonti´s Ristorante and never had your experience. The staff is very kind, the food is excellent, and the price is quit OK for a really good italian Ristorante downtown of Munich.
Posted by: "Vincenzo" at 10:49 am on 19.Jun.2006I was astonished to see negative comments about this superb restaurant. Talamonti is easily my favourite in Munich!
Posted by: "katie" at 7:05 pm on 24.Oct.2006yum.
Posted by: "amber" at 6:01 pm on 22.Jan.2007I was seriously unimpressed with this place. Everyone in my party were similarly unenamoured: plates of boring pasta including spaghetti bolognaise with seemigly no meat and a particularly disappointing seafood risotto which had no fresh fish in it at all, just dry, rubbery frozen seafood cocktail-type stuff. Didn't find it overly expensive, just poor quality food.
Posted by: "liv" at 7:12 pm on 30.Jun.2007When I first started coming to MUC regularly in the early 90s, Talamonti/Buon Gusto was a regular lunch/dinner haunt during stage rehearsal periods at the Staatsoper for us hooligan singers. In those days it was always good (apart from the occasional awful rendition of Italian songs by one of Talamonti's regulars when he was showing off to his lady friends)and the man himself was often there. Nowadays it can be variable, depending on who is cooking. It was always on the expensive side - massive markups on wine the main reason - and sometimes portions could be small for the price. Generally though it is still a good place to eat and at quiet times the restaurant food is generally excellent (lunch is often best, I think). Don't let them rush you, and if you don't want to be surprised and prefer a menu then ask for it until you get it!
Posted by: chrisopera at 2:11 pm on 17.Jan.2008I highly recommend this delightful bistro. The dishes are light and tasty with delicate seasoning and fresh ingredients. It is the best Italian food that I have ever tried. The restaurant is cozy with only six tables and warmly decorated. A special surprise was tortellini with truffles. Pasto dishes are highly recommended.
