Sasou - Marienplatz 28, Munich, Germany
Apparently "Sasou" is the Japanese for "to invite someone". So now you know what the name means.
The restaurant is exclusively asian food. The menu includes sushi, Japanese noodle soups, rice noodles, egg noodles, duck, and chilli chicken. It is self-service - go to the counter to order. In general - highly recommended. Come here for a quick break during your shopping and you will end up staying longer than you intended.
What is particularly cool about Sasou is that the sushi dishes are prepared in full view of the shop window. Have you ever attempted homemade sushi? If not and you fancy giving it a go then don't bother with cook books or online sushi guides. Instead get yourself down to Sasou! You don't have to eat at the restaurant, or even buy anything from the street counter. Simply stand at the shop window and watch the masters at work as they prepare various different types of sushi right in front of you. Even if you don't like sushi it is fascinating to watch. Check it out next time you're on Marienplatz!

Few weeks ago, I was trying to get in there with a friend and was shocked about the amount of people standing AT THE ENTRANCE blocking our way in. I shouldn't have gone in at all!!! It was a nicely decorated restaurant using some award winning clothes hangers (Thailand) and nice furniture from Asia. We ordered duck soup noodles and a spicy chicken noodle soup - very oily. If you would like to have the effect of having TOO MUCH MSG within your food then this is the best place. We were so thirsty when dining due to the MSG. Not even after few bottles of 0.5L Mezzo mix would quench my thirst! However, for sushi takeaway from the counter, they have one of the most presentable (visually as I have not tried them yet) varieties in Munich.

Posted by: "Daniel" at 8:30 am on 23.Mar.2004the food is incredibly good, especially for germany. there aren't many japanese food places in germany that are this tasty.
Posted by: "nica" at 12:32 pm on 12.Apr.2004I've had the Yakitori Udon a few times and it's always been excellent. They go a bit over the top with the packaging for takeaway meals though. I guess they expect you to take it home with you, rather than eating it in the street.

Posted by: "Anna" at 11:18 am on 4.Feb.2007I got food poisoning from some chicken noodles here, but the sushi itself is good.
Posted by: "xen" at 4:07 pm on 21.Feb.2008Excellent food. Wide variety of soups and sushi. Tried all soups and few sushi. Must complement the team there for having something for everybody. All soups are healthy and delicious. The selection varies from hot spicy to mild to simply full of taste. Don't miss Ginger tea after soup...! Finding a place to sit could be tight but, doesn't harm to wait for 30-45sec :) My favorite in town !
Posted by: "king" at 9:35 am on 1.Mar.2008Do not get the pho bo soup, it's absolutely flavorless, even after adding five tablespoons of "hot sauce", and they didn't have any of the herbs that're supposed to be added. For that go to Cam Ly instead. I'll go again and try the other things though.
