Sarovar - Munich

Sarovar - Theresienstr. 17, 80333 Munich, Germany

Sarovar is located on Theresienstrasse, just north of Odeonsplatz. The staff seem very friendly and prices are pretty reasonable: 10-13 Euros for a curry.

Regards Kapari (the previous restaurant at this location): Food was good but went there for lunch and the wait was so long that the owner offered us free coffee...

This restaurant has just transformed into an Indian. Looks like it just opened, so no word on how the food is.

Pretty much like all the other indian restaurants in town, with one or two extra items on the menu (banana beef, anyone?). They will make the food spicy (and I mean SPICY) if you ask them.

Indeed. I woz there with Finbarr last night. The restaurant is a clone of Sangam and Sangeet. But that's no bad thing. Word on the food. Best curry I've had in a long long time. Very very spicy, but still edible. Am feeling it this morning. Sitar gives you a mango juice after the dinner. Sangeet gives you a mango juice and a small complimentary desert. Sarovar gives you a mango juice, a desert, AND a sparkling aperitif. One up manship?

Nice Chicken Masala. Hot, like the dudes said... Small(er) portions than Sitar though. Would have preferred larger portions than Free Mango Drink > Main Course > Free Mango Dessert > Mango Juice thingy again. Bit Mango lastic on the freebies, Mate!

These Indians are crazy. If they open restaurant side by side then how will they do business.I guess there is something between owners. Evry cook passes the same test. So the food is similar whichever Indian Restaurant u eat!

I was here twice with a group of friends. Both times the food was good and the service was outstanding.

I was there with my significant other last night - I like the decor - contemporary, but still lets you know that you're in an Indian. The food was good - especially the Gemischter Vorspeisen für 2 Personen - very nice way to kick off. The mains were quite spicy, albeit not huge portions- The two of us ate for about 50 yoyos too, which I think was quite reasonable. My only gripe was that the main courses did take quite a long time to prepare - having said that on a Tuesday night at 8pm every single table was taken, so they were quite busy. As far as I'm concerned it's my new favourite Indian restaurant in Munich - tho Sangeet is also worth a look.

Was back at Sarovar again last night. Food was just as good, and spicy, as last time. Service very attentive and quick.

Far and away the best curry house I have been to in Munich. If you ask for your curry to be extra hot, they will make it that way. The food is excellent as is the service.

Boring food. All tasted the same. Poppadums should not be served cold & the chutneys were too watery. Wouldn't go back. Even though we asked for it spicy and "Indian" it wasn't at all spicy. My lamb was fine but someone else said his lamb was tough.

I agree with pretty.polly about the food. Was there a while ago and was really disappointed. Will not go again.

Great food! Was there twice recently and each time was outstanding. Service also great. The chicken tandori is amazing. And always a good sign of a great indian restaurant is when a friend from Bombay who's been living here for years takes you there.

I had lunch here the other day...it was decent. I had the Chicken tikka masala..the portion was not that amazing, but it was tasty enough, but yeah it was a bit watered down spice-wise for German tastes I guess. 3 out of 5 in my books

I was there last evening with a group. Some people complained that their meat meals were a little bit salty. I tried a spoonfull of a hot spicy lamb dish, it was really a little bit too salty, but tasted very good. My vegetarian meal tasted very good too and the Naan there is really great.

Live across the road from this place and can recommend it very highly. It is especially nice to nip over to get a cheeky wee takeaway
