Sahara City is owned and run by a large Lebanese family and frequented by Germans and the local Levantines, the decoration scheme is very cozy with the ceiling looking like a tent and murals, mosaiques and mirrors along the walls. There is a podium with low couches for the purists, table seating for app. 40, there are also tables outside screened from the Riesenfeldstrasse by potted bushes.

When we arrived at Sahara City the first thing they gave us was an application form for their Smoker's Club. I grudgingly invented a name and completed the form. Then ordered a Dunkles-Bier and the waitress brought a Dunkles-Weißbier. When I told her they are not the same she didn't care. We shared the Special Mezze for a starter, which was very good. Note that the specials on the menu are on the last page, after the drinks, presumably the arabic way of opening it. We both had fish for main course, but both were overcooked and tasted as if they had been cooked earlier and reheated. The reastaurant is fairly attractive and is decorated a bit like a Bedouin tent. As it was a Saturday evening and they advertise that they have a Belly Dancer on Fridays and Saturdays we asked about that. At first they said that a Belly Dancer was coming, but later they said that she was not, which was disappointing. Probably won't go there again because of the smoking - all evening, not just late in the evening.
