Everyone is a winner at Rusticana. Great steak and ribs. I recommend both. Plus you get a warm greeting on the way in. Texas style! And the sizes of the portions are huge and they hand you large paper bibs to wear. Definitely photo worthy! You can take the 53 bus from odeonsplatz toward Ostbahnhof and get out by the Siemens building on the busstop "Grillparerstrasse". Price range: EUR23. Wine: EUR15.
Posted by: "profundo" at 2:01 pm on 27.Apr.2004Was here last Thursday. Despite the slightly awkward location, it was packed! Good drinks and service. Ribs were very very good. Tender, meaty and with lots of yummy sauce. Dinner and drinks for 6 came to around 140 Euros, reasonably priced if you ask me. 2 thumbs up.
Posted by: "Show'Em" at 1:11 pm on 15.Jan.2006Just came back from dinner, and it was really good. Thought the rib eye steak was nice and tender. The service was great, we brought our 13 month old boys there and while it wasn't "kid friendly", we had no problems either (brought their own booster seats). We'll be back again!

Posted by: "Chris" at 10:03 am on 2.Feb.2007Excellent. Finally, a steakhouse that serves good meat cooked right. The meat was tender. "Medium rare" was, in fact, medium rare, and not "shoe leather". The 350g ribeye (Entrecôte) was huge, and the side is more than sufficient. The prices match the quality: the 350g ribeye was €20. They sell a lot of ribs and the portions are likewise "American large". They offer three different steaks sauces as well as Kräuterbutter. I went with the butter; she had the "fiery black pepper sauce" which wasn't "fiery" but still tasted nice and complimented the steak rather than smothering it. The ambience is... erm, "rustic" in a way; small, quiet and not too dark, decorations range from old-fashioned kitchen crockery to a wall with various local footballers' signed pictures. Nits: 1) My salad with "oil and vinegar" came with cheap-ass "Kräuterdressing" from a bottle (Kühne, I believe). 2) They don't fully trim the meat. There's some fat and tendon which'll get you. Still, with service like theirs you can't believe you're still in Germany, very strange since the women there only speak Bavarian. It was superb. Moreover it was our waitress' first night working a section solo, so they clearly demand their staff treat guests well. Highly recommended.
Posted by: BadDoggie at 10:27 pm on 27.Jul.2007Warning: These guys are - according to my experience - extremely disorganized and negligent regarding reservations. I left them detailed information yesterday (Thursday) regarding a reservation for Saturday. They called back today on my cell phone without caller ID asking me to contact them asap. Since I was in the car driving I couldn't answer right away, besides I didn't have a contact number. When I got the message, I asked Haggis Junior to contact them from home. She received the information that there was no reservation in my name, so she tried to make one. Then they said, oh, that reservation, yeah, it's on the answering machine, well sorry, we are full. So when I got home I called and received the information that I had reserved today - news to me! - and they were full on Saturday. After lots of back and forth "You called today!" - "No, I called yesterday, I didn't have time to call today or else I would have." the waitress suddenly said, "Besides, we overlooked another reservation so we could not have given you one anyway." Now if that is how they treat their customers' detailed reservation requests I will sit back and wait for a while until I give them another chance. I am sure that the food is good but they messed up so big style that I'll take my custom somewhere else.
Posted by: sarabyrd at 8:07 pm on 30.Nov.2007WOW! Four of us went there last night. The food was fantastic and the service very good. By far the best steak in Munich, prepared perfectly. (*still drooling*) The ribs were yummy & the portions HUGE. Prices very reasonable.
