Roshna Tandoori is an Indian restaurant that opened in early 2006. (Update: And closed sometime in 2008). Since I walk past there every day I decided to check it out. It's a large restaurant – the main room is kept in a more US booth type style, with tables for 4-6 people, while the other room is arranged in the traditional fashion and can be separated for a party of up to 60 people. The interior of the entire restaurant looked new and pleasant. It also has some outdoor seating, not directly on the street but nothing like a beergarden and not suitable for large groups.

The menu is quite extensive. First off, I got free popadoms without saying anything. Then I ordered a mutton vindaloo and it was very good and hot indeed, also it was the largest portion I ever got in Munich. It came with a free Indian salad (onions, hot peppers) and I also got a free ice cream afterwards. Prices were reasonable/normal.

So, I can recommend it.

At the curry night we "tested" the Roshna for large groups (25). Unfortunately they were understaffed. Badly! Lots of things went wrong. The food took more than 2-3 hours to arrive! Some even offered to help serve to speed things up. Some drinks took 1 hour or were forgotten. Food delivered to the wrong person or not spiced at all. No free popadums! They tried to make up for the service by offering a free dessert. And then went on to try to overcharge some people. But my Murg Tikka Masala was surpisingly good. Conclusion: Cook good. Waiter bad. Don't go in a big group.

Went there with my kids tonight. Great value for kids. they have a mini's menu at 5,90 each or any of the main dishes can be divided between two kids. This is the first indian restaurant where they provided plenty of chicken when I asked for a chicken korma to divide between the kids. It wasn't busy, so service was quick and good.
