Riva - Munich

good food, bad staff. If you want to stay longer than one and a half hours - even if you had a reservation - they will force you to leave the restaurant. This is absolutely untypical for Munich! Conclusion: not recommendable ...

They have the best pizza I have found in Munich - the pizza Parma is excellent. Who cares that they kick you out - it makes it easier to get a table for us spontaneous reservation-free folk.

I tried Riva for lunch. The lunch menu is mostly pizzas baked in a stone oven consisting of standard options, i.e. quatro frommagio and house specials, i.e. sushi-esque pizza. They will also make some by special request, I ordered a mushroom and spicy salami (pepperoni to yanks). The pizza was thin, somewhat crispy, light on the red sauce. Only minor complaint was that the liquid from so many fresh mushrooms created a soggy spot in the middle. There are also salad and a few pasta and dessert options as well as daily specials. A full menu is posted in the window as well. Prices range between 8-12 euros, desserts between 3-5 euros. The housemade tiramisu is definitely worth a try. If you like to share its big enough for two, not overly sweet and generous with the mascaparone. The Tal location is long and skinny with a bar area in the front and compact seating in the back. It was fairly empty at 12:00 but got rather crowded by 12:30...reservations (if they take them) are probably recommended for lunch and definitely recommended for groups. The service was friendly and efficient...though I was paid up and out the door in under and hour. The only complaint from this reviewer was smoking is allowed throughout the whole place, which is par for the course in these parts.

I stayed there with friends from 2.00 pm until 11.pm one day before xmas and nobody moved us on. I think the staff are great, always friendly, always dancing and when night falls and the lights are dimmed the music is great in the front bar. I love the pizza and have never had bad wine there.

I go to riva a lot, especially in summer when you can sit outside, and think the service is brilliant, really friendly. They also do fantastic pizza, really thin - pefect! Have often stayed there way too long, and have never heard of anyone being kicked out after 90 minutes - sorry but that's just complete rubbish.

Ate here on the weekend, Very lacklustre antipasti (almost totally tasteless octopus salad, poor salami unmemorable cheese and expensive!) then tried the horse meat pizza just to annoy my girlfriend. Not recommended as the horse meat appeared to be shredded stuff with the flavour and consistency of dry corned beef.(what an anticlimax!) However the pizza base itself was tasty and very thin and crisp, so I'm sure other topping choices would be enjoyable. The venue itself is quite good looking.

Have to agree with the comments about Pizza - magic .. Sorry, do not agreee about the service !! Enjoy ...

I have to agree with the bad service. You really feel like they want you to just eat and leave. It is far too rushed to have a pleasant relaxed meal. The pizza is very authentic though and I suppose if you need to just pop in for a quick lunch or supper then it is ok.

Riva opened in Schwabing this week. In the old Stadwerke building on Feilitsch Str. Its much bigger then in Tal. The have a wood burner so the Pizzas are great. Loads of staff too, so service was pretty good. Best of all the are open until 5am on weekends...

Was at the Riva last saturday nite. Same great food, menu as riva in tal, but with faster service the usual gorgeous staff and loads more space.

Have also tried new riva in schwabing, food is great, starters are all big portions and the tiramisu is def***inglicious!!!! Definately trcommend it as very spacey and friendly staff, unlike most german restaurants

Pizza Ancona(parma with rucola) was great last night, wasn't so impressed with the service tho. Glad to hear that service at the new riva is better as it's sad to see good restaurant with bad service.

Frankly I wouldn't spend €1,95 for an espresso, a real rip off. The waiter was quite grumpy and certainly rude because I didn't leave a tip. Sorry, when you sell water at rip off prices and the pizza is ok, no tip. You should be lucky to have job, all thanks to me and other customers. Tips should not be expected, or taken for granted, they should be deserved.

have to agree that although the food is good it is overpriced and the staff are very rude. They asked us if we wanted anything else to drink - we ordered more wine and were presented with the wine and the bill simultaneous and told to clear the table in 10minutes!! why is this place so busy?

I spent 6 days in Munich when the World Cup was on and went there breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only decent coffee i had in all of Germany and food actually. The staff always treated us well and the food was better everytime we went back, you have to remember if you are sitting there drinking water for an hour of course they are going to kick you out..what do you expect, they have to make money...how stupid can you be! Good to see the Italians went there and showed the Germans what a real restaurant is! Ciao ciao

went there for drinks, stayed for some pizza. Was well worth it! Good and fast service and quite friendly (youngish) staff. I would definitely go there again sometime!

The one in Schwabing has atmosphere like a school cafeteria but darker. Nice pizza but loud.

Went to the one on Tal last weekend and had a great meal: friendly, efficient service and tasty food. Will definitely return!

a few nights ago we went to the Riva in Schwabing. the staff were very friendly and prompt, and at our request gave us half portions of food! we weren't very hungry but decided to eat anyway as the menu was great. we weren't disappointed with our pasta dishes. will head back at some point!

I was there for lunch yesterday with a friend and we both loved it. The staff was super friendly without being totally fake. And the food there is great. I will be going back and it is a place I would feel great bringing people too when they are visiting.

We have been to the Riva in Schwabing for a late lunch with our friends and the kids. The place was quite empty on the Saturday afternoon, but the service was quick and very friendly. We had various pizzas - they all arrived at the same time and were delicious. One of the best pizzas I had in Munich. The prices are quite high for a pizzeria, but worth it.
