Since the Rajasthan has just opened and only a 10 minute walk from where I live I thought I'd give this place a go. Not only is the restaurant very large and nicely decorated it also offers possibly the best Indian food I've tasted so far in Munich. Prices are average but the excellent food certainly makes up for it and definitely well worth a visit - Unterhaching S5 just a few minutes walk. Takeaway also available. During summertime they'll have an 80 terrasseplatz infront of the restaurant.

Finally an Indian restaurant where the food and service is good. The grub is actually spicy and not just made spicy by adding a load of chilli powder. For the first time since I moved to Germany I actually enjoy going for a curry. Service is extremely friendly and attentive. Be warned they are extremely busy at weekends though. Reserved a table on Friday for Saturday and we got the last available table. Best to book a week beforehand I'd say and probably even earlier for large groups.

Ask for UK strength, and you get a good hot curry with all the flavour that you expect. You can even get UK style onion bharjis! The lunch buffet is a good deal too. Have eaten there 3 times recently, and the restaurant has been consistently ace.
Posted by: "LostinSpace" at 2:52 pm on 28.May.2007I wasn't sure whether it was worth going seeing as Unterhaching isn't around the corner from where I live. But in the end, I would have driven twice as long to get there. The food was great. An average dish is around 11 euros but definitly worth every cent. The food is far from bland and the naan bread was cooked beautifully. I would also say that it was the best Indian food I have eaten in Munich. The service was also brilliant and familiar. The waiter that served us spoke perfect English and said "cheers" after handing me my drink. They provide you with more than enough rice and the servings are generous. It is definitly worth a visit! I recommend the lamb spinach dish.

The ambience was wonderful, the service exemplary, but I'm sorry to say, the food left us very disappointed. It was sadly missing something and just didn't taste authentic. I grew up on Indian food and have tried countless Indian restaurants here and in the UK, so perhaps I have a high benchmark, or perhaps I just went with high expectations from the write-ups. For me, it just didn't have the edge. All in all, for a relaxed evening out with friends or family (very child-friendly place with outdoor seating in a quiet traffic-free square), this would be a good choice, but if you're looking for something authentic and complex that is going to get your taste-buds going, I would stick to the city.
