Pur Pur - Dreimühlenstr. 30, 80469 Munich, Germany
A place of two halves. First the lounge bar area with the colourful oriental cushions. Secondly the restaurant area with traditional Western tables. Whole place tastefully decorated with a dark/reddish/oriental feel.
The country and cuisine at Pur Pur is hard to categorise. They call themselves "oriental" which technically means from the area south of the Himalayas or the Malay archipelago. Personally, however, I'd place the decor as coming from slightly to the west of there, i.e. Iran or Iraq. Whatever. It's nice.
Be sure to reserve your seats if you're planning on arriving past, say, 18:00! They are popular, and the front area with the couches and cushions is nice to sit at, but rather inconvenient for actual eating with plates etc.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, especially in Munich. The service is great but never arrogant, I have seen barkeepers dancing late at night on weekends... wonderful food and nice hangout on weekend nights.
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 7:46 am on 11.Jun.2003This has recently become my favourite lounge/bar/restaurant in Munich. I love everything about it: decor, staff, atmosphere, entertainment, not to mention food, cocktails and music.
Posted by: "Ruth" at 4:22 pm on 10.Feb.2004Food good but heavily overpriced. Thought that the decor was a poor match to a real "Budda bar" look and feel !
Posted by: "Alan" at 1:30 pm on 19.Apr.2004Quite a special place, the cocktails are nicely loaded and the best fishsoup in town without a doubt.
Posted by: "Ray Coulson" at 7:59 pm on 2.Jun.2004If you deserve pleasure, find this small place on Earth. Sensual tastes, desirable cocktails, service with verve. If I could, I would venture back to Munich from New York, just to be there again.
Posted by: "Hope" at 9:35 pm on 30.Jul.2005This restaurant is divine. The fillet steak with pomegranate and walnut sauce was absolutely astounding! And the dips to start - delicious. It's very dark and romantic (probably not great for a work dinner!) but thoroughly enjoyable.
Posted by: "Tara O'Neill" at 7:26 pm on 1.Aug.2005Still closed for renovations. The sign in the menu box says seven weeks, but it's so faded it's hard to read. The newspapers in the window date from mid-March 2007. HURA Planungsbüro is listed in the window as doing the renovations.
Posted by: Gen at 7:56 pm on 3.May.2007It's now a Thai restaurant. What a disappointment. The inside is different from before but still beautiful, haven't tried the food yet, but the old menu is still sorely missed in the neighborhood. Plus it was full of teenagers who looked like they should be hanging out at a Dönerbude when we stopped by on a Friday evening - rather different crowd than before. We'll see how it develops, it's only been open two weeks now.
Posted by: "Gen" at 8:19 pm on 5.Aug.2007It's closed again now. What'll be there next?
