Prager Frühling - Munich

Update: As of 2007 this venue is now known as "Babalu".

Prager Frühling - Ainmillerstrasse 1, Munich, Germany

"Prager Frühling" is the German for "Prague Spring". The name refers to the period in early 1968 when the Czechoslovak Communist Party leader Alexander Dubcek tried to liberalise the country's communist regime by introducing free speech and freedom of assembly. The Prague Spring ended when Warsaw Pact troops invaded on the night of the 20-21 August 1968. But enough of the history lessons. Prager Frühling is currently one of the hippest joints in Munich. There are live bands most nights. And when there are no bands, there are live DJ's or special parties.

Mondays are generally "Electric Monday" playing disco and electric music.
Tuesdays is open-stage night.
Wednesdays - Jazz (less said about that the better)
Thursdays - "underground", Britpop, Indie, etc.
Fridays - Oldies and modern, hip hop and reggae
Saturdays - "Popclub", international pop and various styles

Entry: 5 Euro Door: Not Selective Atmosphere: This place has a bit of a mod 70's vibe, but it looks like it's been this way since then and not a retro fit... nice, small, tables to chill, a bar, a small dancefloor, and another bar hidden in the corner with a little chill area Gender Ratio: Heavy on the Wurst, maybe it turned around after we left SOUND: Very Nice Music Selection: Excellent, 70's dancefloor brazil and boogie selected by the boys from Into Somethin' and friends.
