Padres - Blumenstrasse 43, Munich, Germany
This American/Cuban sports bar is worth a visit, because in addition to the rowdy atmosphere and the typical sports bar paraphernalia (like a big screen TV, team pennants and baseball memorabilia on the walls), they have some nice theatrical touches to keep you interested. For instance, the very old phone, in the front right corner of the bar - I was sitting next to it when it rang and I lost my hearing for a few seconds.
The Zeppelin lamp that runs on rails overhead is also a talking point. There are stools at the long, thin bar, but bring your own table because beyond leaning on the back of a friend you aren't going to get any support on a busy night. Cocktails are good but arrive at a leisurely pace, even on a slow night like a Monday.
The drinks card is long and you should find something you like or want to try, there's a comprehensive range. Padres is not far from the language school where I tried to learn some German, so if you are studying the language in the Sendlinger Tor area, check it out to relieve the der, die, das pressure on your brain. Heres an insider tip I discovered when I got the business card; the people behind this bar are the same people that run one of my favorite cocktail bars in town, Havana Club. Two days later, in another bar, I learned these people also manage Tresznjewski, Cafe Puck, Dicker Sophie (too far away in the east of Munich to review here) and that they recently sold Lardy. Everything is linked in this town. Last note from our tequila expert, Anthony; they do have a couple of very good sipping tequilas here. Trust him, he knows what he is talking about.

a bit too narrow, looks like an american table dance but wothout table dance. the cocktail-guys are cool, but a bite arrogant sometimes. cocktails are decent, used to be better. good place, anyway if you get alone and want to sip some whiskey sours quietly, or just to have a nice chat with a good friend ... i would not recommend it for couples, at least heterosexuals ... the worst = the terrible glasses of one of the waiters cheers / l.g.
