Nirvana - Belgradstrasse 16, 80796 Munich, Germany
Nirvana bills itself as an "oriental restaurant and lounge" with the tagline "a tantalizing fusion of tastes, sights, and sounds of the orient". So what does this mean? Well, there are large Buddah paintings on the walls. The colour scheme is an oriental-ish reddy-brown, with bright blues and yellows. They burn incense on the bar and will serve Hookah pipes (for €6) after your meal. The food deserves a mention. The red Thai curry that I had was absolutely excellent. Service is friendly and quick too.

There are three seating areas in Nirvana. There are the high stools at the bar, there is the "normal" table seating area, and then towards the back there is a lounge area where you sit on cushions on the floor. This area at the back is by far the coolest spot. There's only room for 15 to 20 people though.
Happy Hour is after 10pm when the cocktails are served as giant cocktails for the price of a normal.

Incidently, Nirvana opened sometime around October 2003. Prior to that the bar at this address was called "Boongo's".
The two of us went here last night and I thought it was O.K. albeit nothing particularly special. There was only one waitress on and so the service wasn't amazingly fast by any means, but it was friendly and when she heard us speaking English she did try and speak in English with us (though we soon had to revert to German). The food was pretty good - I had a 'Nirvana Masala' - not a bad curry at all, with very nicely done rice. If you're into your cocktails tho, that's probably where this bar will shine - the happy hour cocktails are enormous and very nice - outside of happy hour the cocktails are a touch pricey, but the XXL cocktails during happy hour are great value, and more than make up for it. All in all not a bad little place, with two of us getting out for 55 the prices aren't bad either. If you like your oriental food, give this place a try. Don't bother with a hookah pipe though - just have a cigarette.
