Namaste India - Munich

Anyone used to curry in the UK generally enters Indian restaurants here in Germany with not a little trepidation and vertically challenged expectations.

I visited the Namaste India on Monday after a nice long walk along the Lech and found, nestled next to the main beer garten, the small one belonging to Namaste.

The food was a little on the pricey side for Indian Restaurants, but is very, very well prepared using fresh ingredients and following indian, rather than German conceptions of indian food. I asked them to make me one of their specialities, but indian hot, rather than european hot, and to my delight, my meal was indeed hot, not just chuck a load of chilli in it hot, but actually prepared properly and was very very tasty.

My only complaint was the long walk to the toilets in the restaurant itself but to be honest it is a minor in-convenience, (please excuse the terrible pun) for the beautiful location by the river.

The restaurant has just opened under new management and I hope that they keep up the standard. I, for one will be going back regularly.

It is with a heavy heart, and not a little disappointment that I must contest the opinion above. My food was rubbish, and opinion of others at my end of the table the same. Sorry - but I've had better curry in a can.

JE,Reluctantly I have to agree. After my initial recommendation I did go back, the most recent time about two weeks ago and it was OK, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Despite my original review, it looks like the usual story. A newly opening restaurant starts off well with excellent food, but quickly goes downhill when they lose the momentum and start pandering to bland tastes. Embarrasing as it is to have written the first review, I stand by my opinion that the food was great on at least one occasion. I recant my "going back regularly" statement and will not be returning. Sad.
