Nachtkantine - Munich

The Nachtkantine was actually the original canteen of the noodle factory. Now it’s the central eatery of Kultfabrik and it’s open all night.

Although it’s never completely full it is usually fairly busy. The food is basic junk food - pizza, pasta, burgers - the kind of stuff a takeaway would sell to those who are too tired or hungry to bother. When you need to eat, or meet people, it is a huge central place and it's relatively easy to start a conversation with your table neighbours.

Lots of club owners meet here for a bite to eat; if you get to know their faces from Kultfabrik Magazine you may be able to engineer an introduction and free entry to a club, who knows?

I will not eat here again. I work close by, and would come for the lunch about once a week or so. After the remodel (during the KPO to Kultfabrik revamp) - ordered a pasta & salad, which came served with (I am not joking) some *live* maggots in the food. Clearly they had some contaminated / rotten vegetables in storage. Perhaps it was a one-time thing only. But their quality control was apparently non-existent before serving the food. Strongly not recommended.

At least it was better than finding *half* a maggot in your salad... But seriously. I've always found their food to be of excellent quality. The service is a bit slow, but I suppose that's to be expected with a place that large. Having said that, I haven't been since before the "revamp" so a lot might have changed in the meantime.
