Molly Malones - Kellerstr. 21, Munich, Germany

Mollys is the only Irish pub in Haidhausen, but unlike Gunter Murphys and Shamrock, it is a relatively quiet place. Nice to have a beer here once in a while.
Not very big though and it quickly gets full. As always in Irish pubs, the British expatriate community can be observed drinking the night away and deconstructing Englands/Scotlands/Wales/Northern Irelands latest footballing defeat.
Never tried the food, but looking at the plates that pass by it seems heavy and greasy which means it must be typically wholesome English/Irish junk food.

The Fish and Chips in Molly's is highly recommended! Probably the best you'll find in Munich...
Posted by: "Dave" at 2:17 pm on 15.Nov.2003the foods great. Has the best FISH and CHIPS in Munich
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 11:23 am on 19.Mar.2004Now it's official. In Sean O'Huiginn's "Irish Pub Food Awards" the prize for best fish and chips 2004 went to Molly's. Definitely the best chippie in Munich.
Posted by: "Sean O'Huiginn" at 10:51 am on 25.Mar.2004Everyone says this place has the best fish n chips. frankly im not inspired to go to a bar just for fish and chips. What sad bastard is??. That just says a lot about food and people from the UK. However,i like this bar a lot. its unpretentious, the mix of people is diverse, staff are great (especially frank with his dry wit), its not full of tourists and its not your typical generic, suck them in with fake celtic charm, irish bar. The perfect pub.
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 9:39 am on 4.Apr.2004Well what can i say about Mollys? it's my second livingroom; what with an excellent Whisk(e)y selection, good food at a decent price considering its Munich we're talking about. No schicky Mickey, no Schnickschnack and now and again a wonderful Folk Band in the corner, on Sundays i think. The Staff are good if somewhat challenged when it gets busy, but they always deliver the goods if you're patient. I advise to book a table if you go, otherwise you may be left standing :-) Oh yeah, if you're thinking of trying to Park a car someplace there.. forget it, it's not worth being towed away or getting the ticket (which they give out until 23:00 in that area!) use the Town transport. Its an excellent atmosphere, and the Fish & Chips? i love it!
Posted by: "Colin" at 5:22 pm on 2.May.2004molly's has a yummy shepherd's pie too
Posted by: "butterbean" at 9:09 am on 4.Nov.2004Molly's is the 1st Pub I discovered when I moved here. Very friendly place indeed. Service is always good here.
Posted by: 3 Lions at 5:17 pm on 4.Nov.2004Molly's is fab, not only because they actually have windows! (although that is a big plus). But someone mentioned the Shepherd's Pie already, and I will definitely second that as well. If you don't fancy the fish & chips then S.Pie is an excellent alternative.
Posted by: Topsy at 5:29 pm on 4.Nov.2004I remember a shocking service incident in Molly's a couple of years back. Myself and a mate were there for my first visit to the place and I asked the guy serving our table where the cigarette machine was. He replied, "what are you looking for and I'll get them for you.". Nearly fell off my chair I did.
Posted by: keydeck at 5:33 pm on 4.Nov.2004I ate there not too long ago and sent it back..The burger had been in the deep fat fryer at least twice and the chips were shite. Geoff
Posted by: "Grinner" at 4:00 pm on 9.Nov.2004Make sure all you Guiness drinkers ask Morris about his 'Perfect Pint' award.
Posted by: "Kat" at 4:05 pm on 9.Nov.2004@Kat, you make him sound like an old British Car... I think its spelled Maurice...
Posted by: "Grinner" at 4:09 pm on 9.Nov.2004Hmm, I thought it was Morris too....
Posted by: "Tom17" at 4:10 pm on 9.Nov.2004Some people call him a space cowboy, some people call him the ganster of love, but no one calls him Maurice. whoo wooo!
Posted by: "showem" at 5:33 pm on 9.Nov.2004Steve Miller Band right??
Posted by: "canuck" at 5:36 pm on 9.Nov.2004Good time... the service was fine, especially considering the place was packed. As advertised the sheppard's pie was nice - big enough to share too. I definitely give it a :-)
Posted by: jml at 12:20 am on 10.Nov.2004I like it. The service is good and friendly. They have Spaten beer (considered by many to be the worst in Munich) but I find it quite drinkable in there. They have a fantastic selection of whiskeys. I recently had the fish and chips in there as well as their shepherd's pie and they were both quite edible.
Posted by: "Roland" at 3:00 pm on 30.Nov.2004Beer and food very good, nice location Sky Sports especially welcome!!
Posted by: "peter" at 1:03 pm on 10.Feb.2005have always found the service to be great even when the place is well crowded. and their Fish and Chips rocks big time.
Posted by: "VDScab" at 7:45 pm on 10.Feb.2005Best thing about Molly´s: the good looking bartender with the accent. Down Under?

Posted by: "Stuart" at 1:38 pm on 4.Jul.2005I`m the new guy from Munich Trudering. I`ve met Gen and J. last Thursday and no I`m a little bit thirsty. If you meet somebody on a Tuesday night, maybe he´s different than on first sight. But if you try to reach his hidden heart, maybe you find out, hey the guy is quit smart. Give others a chance to prove how they really are, not everyone is a breathtaking movie star. There is a bridge from heart to heart, there´s always a change to make a new start, let´s learn from each other how to laugh, because in a community there´s space enough. It´s a short poem written on a cloudy afternoon, and I´m coming to the Irish pub to see you soon.
Posted by: "Dieter" at 6:12 pm on 2.Aug.2005I might well be one of the rare frenchies addicted to Guiness and rare single malts (from Scotland only, sorry). Molly Malones is my second home place in Munich ! PS : their home made chili is outstanding...
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 10:49 am on 11.Aug.2005I was at Molly Malones yesterday and I find it quiet - for an irish pub) - and nice. :-)
Posted by: "The Inspector" at 5:20 pm on 22.Sep.2005I love Molly's - my favourite place to drink in Munich. The staff are great and the 'baby guiness' to die for!

Posted by: "parnell" at 1:00 pm on 11.Jan.2006Great Pub Great friendly staff Great food and good beer. The owner Morris meet and greets people upon entering and leaving bar very friendly personal touch. Food is great i recomend the chicken curry and quarter pounder but everthing on menu is excelent.
Posted by: "Ciaran Curtin" at 6:46 pm on 14.Feb.2007COOOOL place to go to!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: "dood" at 8:36 pm on 18.Jul.2007For some horrible reason there are too many Irish and English people there. Why? They ruin the place. I hope the management ban these awful, awful scoundrels. Shocking, I tell you.
Posted by: "Anne Nonny Miss" at 2:50 am on 14.Oct.2007I've had hit and miss experiences at Molly's. One night we had great waiter and the fish and chips was batter was undercooked and the chips were a bit overdone. Then the waiter tried to short change me which was quite obvious. So, with that said, I recommend the place though I say watch your back.
Posted by: captainpatten at 10:25 am on 7.Nov.2007Why do the Staff talk to obvious English speakers in German ?..I understand that they may get confused sometimes and not remember who is or isn't English but I think it would be easier if they just spoke English to us by default ..It is an Irish Pub!! Beer=Bier
Posted by: "servus" at 7:07 pm on 12.Nov.2007@servus If its an irish bar, shouldn't they talk to us in Gaeilge?
