A great location for those in the East. Never been in the Restaurant, but often go there after visiting the playground further up the path, or the swimmingpool down the other path. Food is normal beer garden fare, with no standout specialities. Setting is fantastic....beside the lake, under the trees, with a playground in the corner. Lots of friendly locals to chat with too!

Features: - Michaeligarten gets the late evening sun! Not shady like most beergardens, so its a good end of season place. - Kids play area is quite comprehensive and fenced in. - Model radio-controlled boat mecca.

They put MSG (E621) in the Obatzda without noting it on the menu. I won't be returning.

Michaeligarten is right on the lake in the Ostpark, making it perfect for a nice stroll or bike-ride and beer afterwards. The playground is great, although probably a little too tough/big for adventurous 2 year-olds! Mixed salads are wonderful here, and the Krustenbraten is the best we've ever had from any beer garden. Not a whole lot of tourists here compared to others. Usually plenty of tables available, even on a busy day (shade negotiable, of course). All in all, a great hidden treasure of Munich.

I love this place, and have even booked for our Christmas dinner! It's child friendly with the best nappy changing facilities I've found in Munich. They provide colouring and pencils for the children and have a children's menu! Hey! Food is always great and you'll never leave hungry!

Note that its on the U5 and not the U2! Great place, invited a group to come there this weekend. Lots of room and not a hint of tourists!
