Metropolis - Munich

Went here for a gig last night (Jet) - great gig all in all, but the venue is crap - sounds and lights are OK I guess, but there was no cloakroom open and the place looked to have been oversold by a way - way too crowded, especially with your coat on still! Other than that the beer is (predictably) shite and very expensive. Oh, and the crowd were dull as ditchwater too. Great gig, shame about the venue.

The venue is more suited to smaller gigs (obviously). I've seen Badly Drawn Boy and the Beta Band there, and in both cases it was a perfect venue. As for the cloakroom, I've no idea what happened to it. It used to be to your right after coming in the entrance.

The cloakroom was there alright, just not open - total pain in the arse to have to carry or wear your jacket. Clearly not a problem in summer, but when it's below zero a totally poor idea not to have someone taking coats.

It was stupid not to have had the cloakroom open in this weather, however I have found that in Munich a cloakroom at a gig is a luxury! The beer was augustiner helles - fine apart from you end up paying 3euro something for half a glass! The kid pouring the beer didnt seem to have a clue. I complained 1 time asking to have a full beer and was told its not possible, that is what you get.??!?!!?!!! Of course this was disputed as I had paid for 5 beers and expected 5 beers not 5 halfs and the upperty cow walked off. So the poor kid got it in the neck from me, I got slightly fuller beers and the kid made more of an effort to fill the glass. Why they have to bring in those temporary bars when the place has a bar already is beyond me.

been there for a few gigs, and those were fine. went on a friday night because i was bored - big mistake. the first people showed up at 2 am - us! the music was pretty good for dancing, but by 5 am there were only about 20 people in the club! shame, cuz the dance floor is big and the space is cool, but its stuck in the back on kultfabrik where no one can see it!
