Merge Bar is a brand new restaurant, bar, and lounge. Designed and built by three guys, two of them engineers as an off shoot from their "real" jobs. One Brit and one Aussie. Looks fantastic, relaxed and warm. The third partner runs the day to day operations. Bernie has worked in some of the most fashionable places in town and now has a stage to show off his flair. Great cocktails, 100's to choose from and at probably lowest prices in town. Food is fresh and very professionally presented.

They are looking to start an evening entertainment program, live music, latest sounds from UK, dinner with jazz or opera. The three guys are fun and friendly and have lots of ideas to bring to the Munich scene. Their interior design and style needs to be witnessed. The bar is also kitted out with wireless LAN. Bring your laptop down and do some e-mailing over lunch!

Incidently, this address was previously an Aussie bar called Ayers Rock. They were short-lived and closed sometime in 2002. Maistrasse was also the address for the Winchester Arms - an English pub which also closed years ago but is still talked about amongst the English population of Munich. Let's hope the new Merge Bar is successful and remains open for a good few years to come!

Ayres rock failed because of its location. I don't see how this has changed it. But I'll be giving it a once over.
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 10:56 am on 19.Mar.2004I love what they've done with this bar! The newly opened Merge Bar is what's been missing from Munich's local pub scene. From the fish tanks in the wall, to the rows of alcohol behind the bar, it's a great all round 'local'. Whether you want a quiet, relaxing drink with friends, lunch or dinner, Merge Bar has it all. The guys that run the it are lots of fun and will shake/stir/blend you up a screaming cocktail (good prices). The crowd is a good mix of locals and foreigners so there's always someone to meet.
Posted by: "Rebecca" at 1:41 pm on 19.Mar.2004Well I popped by and had a great conversation with one of the owners. They advertise cocktails for 5 euro ab 17:00. I suggest a look-see. It's a 5 min. walk from the U-bahn, you just have to know where you're headed. It's no worse than walking to the Seehaus from M.Freiheit!
Posted by: "Bee" at 3:04 pm on 22.Mar.2004Party at Merge Bar, tomorrow Saturday the 17th April from 7.30pm to 3am. This party is a charity bash for an orphanage in Belarus where most of the kids have cancer from the Chernobyl disaster. Merge has agreed to allocate a part of each drink price towards the orphanage, so we can get pissed and know its for a good cause. Also holding a raffle, prizes which include 100 Euro flight voucher for Opodo, a couple of mobile phones & dinner for 2 at Merge. If you are feeling generous this Saturday eve, why not stop by and we can raise some money for these kids!

Posted by: "Anonymous" at 8:17 pm on 12.May.2004Nice, very nice! The cocktails are mixed superbly and are thriftily priced. The adventurous menu combined with friendly staff makes this place worth a second visit. The parties there have always been something special. We will definitely plan on spending some more evenings here in future.
