Maharani is the ideal restaurant for a pre- or post-movie curry, since it's just down the road from the Cinema on Nymphenburgerstr. The staff are very friendly and the service has always been good when I've been there.
Posted by: Malcolm Spudbury at 12:00 am on 5.Feb.2003Used to be the best Indian in Munich but standards have dropped and they've taken the Brocolli Masala off the menu.

Posted by: "Grinner" at 1:44 pm on 16.Feb.2004Used to be the best in town. The service goes up and down as staff changes but the food is still hard to beat! Especially the CTM!
Posted by: "rp" at 11:22 pm on 29.Nov.2004Went there for the Sunday Brunch (all day, just 9 euros w/out drinks) and found it quite tasty. Sure, you don't get any pakoras or papadam but for 9 euros we got 2 veggie dishes, 2 meat (chicken tikka was the only non-interesting dish), plain rice, nan bread, salad and mango pudding for dessert. The place is small and cozy, the staff nice, and the food on the buffet was spiced medium'ish which was perfect. Would go back again, especially since I live close enough to walk!
Posted by: "Squirrelgirl" at 9:09 pm on 6.Feb.2005No. The worst food I have ever had in Munich. I forget what I ordered (with the GEA a few weeks ago) but it was so salty I could only eat half. On the other hand the other guests seemed satisfied.
Posted by: petersen at 11:06 am on 17.Oct.2007Been there about 4-5 times in the last 2 months. Food has been delicious each time, and both myself and my colleaugues have never had a complaint. With each visit we had a different type of lamb, chicken and daal/sabji dish along with raita. The starters that we had were normally paneer and onion bhaji. Beer was very nice and service was excellent. My one complaint was the music. IMHO given that they provide a Punjabi flavour to their dishes, they should play traditional Punjabi songs as well rather than songs from other areas of India. A bit of 'Bhangra' to liven München up! :-)
Posted by: "Mani" at 11:49 am on 18.Jun.2008The best Indian food I've ever had... hands down. Great staff, and they truly serve quality here. you can't go wrong with the Boti Kebab or the Chicken Tikka, but just about everything I've ordered has been spectacular. I go here at least once a week.
Posted by: "hemanshu" at 7:33 pm on 27.Mar.2009JerseyBoy and I ate there last night as we made our way home from the biergarten. Was my first time there. Not sure why, but was not expecting much. But was pleasantly surprised. The service was great.Poppadoms were wonderful and the sauces were different, which I loved. The hot one was a green chili sauce, the medium was a yogurt/mint (which was wonderful. I love mint sauce, but is usually too hot for me, this combo was nice) and of course the sweet mango. I had Chicken Bharta and it was nice and thick and full of chicken and flavor. JB had mango chicken and quite liked it. He had garlic naan and said it wasn't the best, but not bad. I also liked that at the end, they give you mango cream instead of schnapps. Will definitely add it to the list of my favorites (but still no where near as great as Go).
