Löwenbräukeller is the main beer garden and hall in Munich belonging to the Löwenbräu brewery. The brewery itself is located just across the road and you can smell it when you emerge from the U-Bahn.

The beer hall is huge but the atmosphere inside is usually relaxed and calm. It is not as manic and touristy as the Hofbräuhaus.
Easiest way to reach the Löwenbräukeller is via U-Bahn, take the U1/7 line one stop north of the Hauptbahnhof to Stiglmeierplatz. If you manage to navigate your way out of the correct U-Bahn exit you'll arrive right in front of the main door.

Löwenbräukeller
Open 9am till 1pm every day including holidays.
Nymphenburgerstrasse 2, Neuhausen/City Center
U-Bahn U1 Stiglmeierplatz
Best place to go after buying your souvenir mug at O'Fest. The beer is awesome and the people are very friendly. Went there when i was stationed in Augsburg and was bought beer all night by the patrons because i was an American Soldier who could speak German and knew most of the song. Going here is a must not far from Train Station. I found this place better than the Hofbrau House.

Posted by: chucktduck at 11:10 am on 23.Aug.2005Rudest service anywhere. Example: Starkbierfest waitress is unbelievably rude. Comes back later and says she is sorry but she is always like this. Beergarden is recommended however - mainly because you have to serve yourself. However, at the end of the day, you could get service almost like this in any of the beer halls. My favourite is the Wiesses Bräuhaus but even so have experienced the odd rude service. 9 times out of 10 though it has been pretty good.

Posted by: "Roger Mellie" at 10:34 am on 30.Aug.2005The biergarten is good there but not very large. The Löwenbräu beers I had were up to the correct mark in most cases which makes a change. The food is quite good.
Posted by: "Anonymous" at 1:31 pm on 27.Sep.2005Pertinent Facts -The Beergarden gets the evening sun up at the top end. -You can go indoors if it turns wet or cold. Unlike many beergardens. -It has no Kida Play area -There is a deposit on Plates and mass glasses -The Starkbierfest show with the Jetzendorfer band is very good. Book tickets beforehand.
Posted by: ian at 1:48 pm on 4.May.2007If you want to get ripped off, go here. A beer costs 1 Euro/halbe more than anywhere else 3.60!! The Biergarten is pathetically small, the atmosphere sterile - I can't even see why tourists would want to go here. To top it off, as all locals know, the beer is shit. Make your way down to the Augustiner in the Arnulfstrasse (near BR building and Hauptbahnhof) - now that is a beer garden!
Posted by: Dirk Diggler at 2:06 pm on 8.May.2007took some out-of-towners here last night for some tradtional Bavarian fayre & beers. on the waitress' recommendation, we ordered the yummy Schmankerlplatte at 18€ a head, it was so much we couldn't finish it! we were all still full this morning. service was freindly and speedy even though the place was quite busy. so this place gets the 'thumbs up' from us. only minus point was they do not do menus in English.
