L-Lounge 2 - Bayerstrasse 5, 80335 Munich, Germany

This bar is fairly new. It opened in the late Summer of 2003. It is located in the Mathäser cinema complex between Karlsplatz and the Hauptbahnhof.

L-Lounge 2 - Munich

The decor is bright, simple, and open plan. There are two sections - the large square shaped bar and a long seating area. The seating area is decked out with low stools covered in white leather. There are a number of TV screens dotted around which show stuff like MTV.

The L-Lounge 2 bar is sponsored by O2 (the telecoms company formerly known as Viag). You won't forget this because the walls are decorated with the famous O2 oxygen bubbles that make the O2 branding. The bubbles are pretty cool actually. There are water tanks set into the walls and every few seconds a burst of bubbles is released up through the tanks.

Not too sure about the recommended?? Seriously have to question the competency of this bar when they only put 3 people on to cover for 220 punters. Cocktails not too great, ran out of Pils, then only had warm Helles to follow that up. Getting served was an absolute nightmare, obviously a couple of people knew the manager and were served before anyone else. The cocktail barman needs a lesson in how to catch bottles, more of them ended up on the floor than in his hands. I wouldnt bother with this spot, there are a lot of better cocktail bars in Munich.

I wouldn't recommend this bar at all. The service was a nightmare indeed. Not only that 3 ppl to serve more than 220 ppl is not enough (and they knew how many ppl would be there), they were also not really friendly and trying to make anything up. It also is a very cold place in my opinion. Not really much atmosphere. Cocktails are not good either. I guess the "cloakroom" shouldn't be mentioned at all. It would be alright for a drink before/after a movie but wouldn't go there just because of the bar itself. Still had a good time at the TT Party though!

If you've been to the O2 waiting area at their headquarters then you'll see it really is sponsored by O2. I liked the white couches, the bubbly decorations, but yeah the service was miserable. In ordering drinks at the bar, the waitress said it would go faster if we ordered beer or wine, then she had to scourage for a beer glass, which she barely cleaned then served to us. There were glasses all over the bar just waiting to be picked up. Also, before ordering she also muttered under her breath, "what no tips tonight?" No wonder.

Went there again on Saturday around 6.30 p.m. and it was well visited. Found a seat and was promptly served, even ordering a second time was quick and painless. Turn-over was high, a wait-persons dream; this was the starting point for most movie goers, very few sat and drank for more than 20 minutes or so. I still liked this lounge despite the fiasco at the TT party.

it wasn't great, but to kill time before a train out-of-town, it was perfect. drinks weren't bad, neither was the service, but then again, i tip well. ;-)
