Lily's Bistro opened up in 2007 and do serve typical Asian meals. It is one of the places around Hauptbahnhof that is full every day for lunch by the people that work in that part of the city. Basically a diner with cafe, but the quality is very good.
In the beginning, they did typical asian meals like Tofu with Thai curry red and different kinds of sushi with a vitrine inside for all the fresh sushi ingredients. Now they cancelled the sushi and do offer typical Vietnamese soups besides of the asian meals.
The kitchen is seperated from the dining room, but there is no door, so you can basically see the cooks at work if you want.
You can always say it if you have a special wish, like "no glutamat" or "2 red thai chillies extra". It could be they turn you down the first time, but if you insist on it, they are happy to serve what you want. Also do not hesitate on asking for typical vietnamese starters or meals. I go there quiete often and if I order a cold vietnamese springroll or a springroll with meat filling I get it even if it is not on the Menu.
The prices are pretty low, the evening menu is the same as the Lunchtime menu. Soft-Drinks are 1 Euro, the cappuccino taste by far better than one in more expensive places.
