Letoon - Ysenburgstr. 13, 80634 Munich, Germany
Letoon closed for good on 30th September 2006 due to brewery change. It is not clear what will come in its place.
Prior to 2004 this address was home to a bar called Ysenburg.
Letoon opened on Friday 20th February 2004, and very nice it was too. The name "Letoon" comes from a small and ancient city in Anatolia, the Turkish Rivera. This should give you a clue as to the type of food. Although the menu is not particularly extensive, what is available is good and fresh. The food is based on lamb, vegetables and some seafood. Done with a slightly lighter hand than at Pardi, the lamb dishes are excellent and large. In fact, should you take the lamb stuffed with spinach and goat's cheese, similar to the Greek Bifteki, only the very hungry will need a starter.

The accompanying rice that I had was slightly overcooked but we'll forget that as the lamb was that good. Main courses come in at about 10 or 11 Euro, starters from 4 to 8 Euro. Drinks are normal Munich bar prices. Service is friendly and multi-lingual but not pushy. The yellow Ysenburg walls are now a soft white which emphasises the dark wood fittings and makes you realise how large and airy the location can be.
The owner was the head chef at Pardi for 5 years. He always dreamed of running his own restaurant and now he has realised that dream. And best of luck to him too. I'd recommend this restaurant. Particularly if you like lamb!

Nice restaurant. Only complaint (and it's a very minor complaint) is that the stuffed avacado I had last night was somewhat lacking in flavour. It was avacodo filled with chicken, peas, and cheese (cheesey peas!). Tasted a bit bland. They could have added some ginger, or chilli, or just anything. As it was it tasted like that uniform moshed up student fodder they serve at CADU. But with better presentation. Otherwise, Letoon, yes, a welcome new addition to the Neuhausen area. Will be going back.

I ordered grilled chicken breast - when it came there was around 3 times more meat than you'd normally expect. The vegetables were slightly overcooked, I thought, but tasty nontheless. Service was friendly and prompt.

Posted by: "jay" at 3:44 pm on 4.Nov.2004Went there last week. The "grilled" squid dish consisted of 4 tiny pieces of squid (!), lots of oil, 1 potato half and tasteless veggies, not fresh at all (11 or 12 euros!). I won't go there again.
