Right in the middle of the gayest street in Munich, the heterosexual surroundings of Ksar Club feel a bit lonely. But after six years of co-existence, it is still attracting a lot of sexy, trendy people. Why is that? Well, here is the recipe:- rent 100m2 of store front space with big windows, put in a DJ, then add a bar with professional bar staff. Next scatter a few low tables and comfortable leather chairs randomly around the room - not too much, be careful, otherwise you will not attract many people - and reserve a big open space in the middle of the room for people to loll about, stir their drinks, nudge elbows and talk. Next, carefully place a bouncer at the door that looks like he is filtering people even if he is not and lower the lights to the dimmest setting possible to make it look like a night place. As a final touch, spice it up with a fake open fireplace and mix in late-twenties to thirty-somethings. Shake the whole thing and you have Ksar Club.
One of my favourite bars in Munich. Closes at 3am so theres no rush, but it gets crushingly full after 10pm weekends - arrive before then to claim some space for your elbows.

Posted by: "L.G." at 9:54 pm on 12.Dec.2003Great place. Has been much quieter in recent months, and apparently the Sueddeutsche reported the other day that it intends to close by the end of the year cos it no longer pays the bills. Shame, cos it's a great bar - good vibe, friendly staff, great cocktails, chilled out "publikum" and always cool tunes from the DJ. Catch it while you can, I guess.

Posted by: pootle at 6:18 pm on 13.Aug.2005Rumour has it that despite being seemingly full most nights of the week they simply weren't making enough money. There's plenty of bars and shops in the area that have gone bust recently. Apparently it is still up for grabs but I heared yesterday that the rent being asked is too high to attract a new bar in there at the moment.

Posted by: "shady" at 2:07 pm on 25.Oct.2005Went there for a drink last weekend. It was pretty full but still had a good time. Atmosphere was like it used to be... mixed, youngish crowd, relaxed atmosphere, OK music, smoky. The beer there totally sucks.
