Posted by: "Gary Todd" at 5:47 pm on 21.May.2005Not a non-smoking restaurant, and it's so small that one cigarette probably fills the place. They have a terrace out back, but it's not open today because they think it will rain. What a shame. We didn't bother to go.
Posted by: Gen at 7:18 pm on 31.Jul.2005I have been to Kleinschmidtz twice now, and both times was served a delicious meal. A 5-course meal costs EUR 47 (see their website for an example meal). We sat in the no-smokers section which was at the front of the restaurant. The smokers section was at the back of the restaurant in a room on a higher level with an open doorway, but we didn't smell 1 cigarette, so this must work. Maybe you couldn't see this other room from the outside, Gen? Top-notch service, excellent food. This kind of place would easily cost 60 pounds a head in the UK, not (quickly works it out) around 35 pounds a head. For 5 courses! Excellent wines too.
Posted by: UrbanAngel at 2:36 pm on 2.Oct.2005We'd called in July about the nonsmoking zone and at the time they only had the terrace. So the zone must be new. Fantastic! We'll be able to check it out now!
Posted by: Gen at 3:58 pm on 6.Oct.2005We went last night for our anniversary as it was recommended to us by a friend of ours who is also a French chef, recommended it. It was wonderful! For 47 per person (not including drinks) we received a 5-course meal. The cuisine was French Provencial. It was cozy and they have non-smoking area. The owner chatted with us a bit and he was also very nice!
Posted by: "DanaRae" at 12:52 pm on 23.Feb.2006I went there on Saturday with a group of friends, it had been highly recommended by a lot of colleagues and for once i was not disapointed. The food was top notch, it's one of the best resturants i've ever been to - the service was fantastic, which I've really come to appreciate in this town. We were 8 fairly picky diners and we all really enjoyed it, which is saying something. They also have a great wine selection, let us try a couple before ordering, and were happy to swap à la carte and menu choices around without any bother. 10/10
Posted by: LFF at 2:20 pm on 16.May.2006We ate here last week and it was very disappointing. We requested non-smoking,they gave us a table adjacent to the small bar so we had to contend with smoke from there all night. The food was very average, wine by the glass terrible and the ambience a bit cold. The waitress was pleasant and tried hard but this could not make up for the food.
