Kay's Bistro, run by Kay Wörshcings, was an institution when it was open. It lived for about 15 years, perhaps even 20 or more. They closed finally at the end of 2004 / early 2005.

In its place is a new Italian restaurant called Fratelli's.

Kay's Bistro - Munich

So sad to see that Kay's is no longer open. I was in Munich several times in the early 80's with an American company of "West Side Story". We spent many an evening wining and dining at Kay's. The term "institution" does not do it justice. Any idea what happened to the guest books?

Kay Wörshcings now has some kind of a bar or food stand in the newly opened Schrannenhalle, or so I heard. I don't know any more about it though. Perhaps someone better informed than I can post?

here i am. when you need more information about the Munich´s scene, the Inspector helps. the new bar of Kay Wörsching has the strange but expressive name of "Prosecco Teatro". i think this says something about the direction of the new business. never been there anyway, the Schrannenhalle does not attract me.

Kay Wörsching could do some money if he published his guest book. I would buy two! So sad no know this great place is now closed!

You can visit Wörschings Bar "Prosecco Teatro", next to his closed down Bistro at so called "Schrannenhalle" (you simply cross the street and enter the rebuild market place - there you'll find it). Parts of his splendid decorations can be found there...

Just returned from a ski trip in the Alps and I was disappointed when returning to Munich. I walked down the familiar street only to find that Kay`s was no longer there. I had had two memorable nights there and was looking forward to a 3rd.
