Absolutely the best Italian place I've been to in Munich. Noble, but enough people running around laughing and chattering that it doesn't feel that way. Have your parents take you there if you're a student, or save up for a couple weeks before you go, but go. We ran up a 110 Euro tab for two people once, both getting the Menü, not including wine.

Without a doubt the best Italian dinning experience in Munich. Wonderful atmosphere, unusual dishes, intermingled with the traditional. It is not cheap, but well worth the money for a meal you will never forget.

It would have been fab except we got stuck with the most miserable arse of a waiter. Everything was a bloody effort, he had a face like a slapped arse and treated us all like a major inconvenience. Sure, the food was excellent but not cheap and with service like that, who wants to pay over the odds. I spoke to the people who'd recommended the place and they said "ah yes, he's always like that. If you ever go again, make a point of reserving a table and asking to make sure that he's not serving you". Sorry but what's the point of having a great restaurant if you're going to employ some miserable muppet like that to serve your customers? There's plenty more places in Munich that serve great food and have much more friendlier staff.

Posted by: Gen at 3:00 pm on 5.Jul.2006they reopened the katzlmacher!!! if you pass the hofbräuhaus, go to the left, direction mandarin oriental hotel, katzlmacher is on your right hand side, it's actually opposite of the HB backentrance. I wasn't there though,been told that food is still fine, but price is very expensive
