We went there few days back. The food is good but the portions were small. Overall a good experience. Different from the Indian restaurants.

We wanted to try out Kandy yesterday evening (Sunday). It was a great disappointment! First of all, the place is small and quite dark. Interestingly, the offer of meals and speciality is very limited. http://www.kandy-in-munich.de/speisekarte-uebersicht.php STARTERS I had the "Malu Patties" ("Teigtaschen mit Fisch gefüllt dazu Kürbissauce patties"). It looked like a pair of half-burned fried Wonton (with a 1/4'' thick dough). I guess that it was not freshly prepared, just heated up. That is at least how it tasted. The filling was a very weird paste, kind of fishy, with indefinable ingredients. I wonder if my cat would have even tried it. Lots of lettuce to fill up the small plate. I missed the pumpkin sauce. My wife had the "Mas Rolls" ("Gebackene Crépe mit Fleisch und Gemüse dazu Barbecuesauce"). It was a halved fried kind of spring roll, with a tasteless filling looking like shredded chilli con carne. Absolutely tasteless, oily. Lots of lettuce also. The roll was split in the length and put vertically on the plate to look bigger. Both Starters were VERY small and expensive (5.50 Euro). MAIN DISHES For the main dishes, we went for fish, since the pork, beef and lamb did not sound very promising either. I had the "Malu Kirata" ("Marinierter Kingfisch mit Koriander, Bockshornklee, Kokosnussmilchsauce"). Now, it was HARD boiled fish, full of bones, and floating in lots of watery sauce. The sauce looked and tasted like warm diluted canned coconut milk with a plenty of Monosodium glutamate (MSG). It costed 13.50 Euro My wife had the "Isso Thel Dala" (Gebratene Garnelen mit Zwiebelringen, Tomaten, Senfsamen und Peperoni). It tasted really dull, just like Ketchup on prawns. Expensive too: 16 Euro! For both main dishes, the portions were small, the sauces were not spicy at all. Not tasty either. Absolutely insipid. REMARKS By the way, there were no pappadums offered while waiting for the food. The few spoons of wet lukewarm boiled rice in a large cold bowl, were presented as our "Beilage". At the end, the waiter pushed the dessert menu right in our face, which we found quite rude, but we just wanted to pay, go back home, have a proper dessert, and write our report to Toytown! CONCLUSION Save your money and fuel for some McDonald Chinese food :) If you want some nice fresh friendly tasty unexpensive indian, just go back to "Goa". Best Value! http://www.toytownmunich.com/archive/goa.html If you are around Grosshadern, you should try the Trattoria Quattro Mori, Heiglhofstr. 3, 81377 München. The owner is from Sardinia. They offer good fish food. The portions are very large it is quite cheap. Good value.

I have been to Kandy a few times, okay, it was lunches, but I was always impressed with the Food and the service. And the shop next door, had all the makings for your own Indian Feast. I had never tried SriLanken food before, but was pleasantly surprised by how different it is to Indian food.
