Josef Lounge Bar - Klenzestr. 99, 80469 Munich, Germany

Klenzestr. 99, Isarvorstadt
U-Bahn U1/2 Isarvorstadt

No longer has Currywurst, as the whole place smelled of it. They do have Käse-Schinken-Toast though, and are now also open Tuesdays. One Australian guy is actually the manager. (Edited 20041222)

New bar opened at Klenzestr. 99 on 1st July 2004. As it's just across the street from where I live I've been there about 3 times since their opening and I think it's really cool. The first time I went there I felt like I was in one of my favourite bars in Berlin! I was told it's run by the same people who own Maria, which is a really nice café next door with good food. You can get a Helles for 3 Euros at Joseph and I think the special thing about it is that you can get a "Currywurst with/or Pommes" (although it's probably not as good as at Bergwolf). The people are both really relaxed and part of the Munich so called "IN-scene". The bar is open from Wednesday till Saturday and they seem to have a DJ every night. I definitely can recommend this bar!!!

The bar opposite is called Maria. Hmmm, Maria and Joseph. Nice. They have effigies of Mary and Christ behind the bar. Last night there was a live DJ. He was mixing CD's. Not good. There are currently two Australian lads working behind the bar. They've been there 10 days. Dunno how much longer they're staying. Nice to be able to order drinks in English without feeling guilty tho'.
