First, do not forget to bring some cash, since they do not accept EC or Credit Cards. Do not expect a typed bill either :o Sometimes they do accept cards and do print you a bill... Now, the food is excellent, better than at most other chinese restaurants in Munich. 50% of the customers are upper class chinese. The rest are Germans of the neighborhood. The German card is extremely messy, let them give you the chinese one too ;) or better even the one with pictures. The portions are very decent for the price too. I would not really try the menus, but go for some 2 or 3 single dishes. Ask for their kind advice, because you might end up with too much good food on your plate, and no place anymore in your tummy (yeah, I am fat). Parking should be quite easy in the evening. Besides the U-Bahn isn't far away.

By the way, do not miss the HUGE Dim-Sum for two (17 Euro a.f.a.i.r. ?). It is a classic Starter, yet very tasty, not oily and very fresh too. A lot of food, so wait until you managed to finish your "starter" before ordering the main dish! Never ever been disappointed at Jade!

Jade is probably the only AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurant in Munich. A little pricey but worth it if you crave good Chinese food.

Went here yesterday for dinner, split about five of the dim sum dishes off the back page of the menu. Thanks for the recommendation, I was losing hope of ever finding good chinese food in Germany, much less a decent source for dim sum! And they were really friendly. They open at 11:30 am so you can have it all at the "proper" time. We will certainly be back. I am pretty sure we paid with credit, btw.

I will agree that the dim sum here is a reasonable approximation of what one expects in a decent American city chinatown. However, dishes average around 5 euros, which is really quite expensive for dim sum (average for the same is probably $2 in NYC chinatown). Unless you are really lazy (like me), it's probably better to buy some frozen stuff at a Chinese market and steam it yourself (that's probably what they are doing in this restaurant anyway).

Finally got over to Jade after living just a 1km away for two years. Four of us split four different dishes as well as some appetizers and desserts and everyone enjoyed the meal. (Total bill for 4 people was €90). The service was spectacular (how did she remember all of that without writing it down??). I'm not ready to proclaim this the best Chinese food I've had in Munich, but it is definitely top-notch.

Went to Jade for lunch the other day. We had some dim sum and ordered 3 dishes. My family and I are Chinese so we only go out a few times for Chinese food since the quality is hit or miss. By far this is the best Chinese food in Munich. The food is Cantonese style. All three dishes we ordered were typical Chinese dishes. Two were very authentic in preparation. The dim sum was very good. All items were prepared fresh in the kitchen, not frozen stuff that you can get from the Motorama stores. Last Jade was not cheap but it was worth the price we paid.

This restaurant is surely located in Ramersdorf, rather than "Berg am Laim". Having walked past Jade for years, I was pleasantly surprised by its interior; much better than its exterior! The customers seem to be mainly groups and mainly Chinese, although the staff do speak German too. The cuisine is predominantly "Hong Kong" and I quite liked it (including the selection of Dim Sums), although it wasn't the best I've had in Munich. The price was very reasonable too. To sum up, worth a visit if you're in the area anyway.

Jade restaurant is located approx 4 km out of Munich center and its location is a little strange being on a residential road. We went there in May 2008 on a Sunday lunchtime to try out the Dim Sum. The interior was typically old-style decor with goldfish tanks, lanterns, wall paintings etc. There were two waitresses on duty. One was an elderly lady who gave very good and attentive service. Very smartly dressed and professional. The other looked and acted like she had just got out of bed. She dressed like she was at home and walked around looking like a zombie. One portion of dim sum will cost 5 euros. The quality of the dim sum was good as was the speed of preparation and cooking. We waited no more than 15 minutes and all our ordered dishes (8) had arrived. This is impressive. I found out that the owners are originally from Kowloon so this is indeed an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant.

Yeah, I'm Chinese and I agree Jade is almost the best Chinese restaurtant I've tried in Munich. But it's Canton style, mainly from Canton, Hongkong area. There are generally 8 different styles of food depending on the area of China. Sichuan food is also very nice if you can bear spicy food.
